    Well, no one won. Laughs.
1.2 - 1.3 Billion on the next drawing ? Nice.

If you took a roulette table and expanded it to 69 numbers, you would have to put 5 chips down
and then in the next 5 spins they would all have to hit. (no, the math isn't the same - just an example)
That would be hard if not impossible.
I could see getting one number or two in a row perhaps... Laughs.
    All 5 would be amazing.
Then don't forget the powerball number.
So after you get those 5 numbers on that table - you have to move to another table,
at least there you have a 1 in 26 chance of winning it all...

I did like how the math on their page is wrong and they argue it. Seems simple to me that it's wrong.
If you pick just the powerball number you win $2.00. There are 26 numbers to choose from.
They argue that the odds of winning this are 1 in 38.32 (laughs). They also argue that winning
"any" prize is 1 in 24.87 (grins again). The best chance that you have is 1 in 26 obviously - so your
chances of winning "any" prize is 1 in 26 at best.

""The odds of matching one red ball ALONE are harder than 1 in 26 because there is some risk that you will also match one or more white ball numbers - and then win a different prize.""

    Laughs. Ok.
So Maybe looking at this from a roulette point of view - despite different rules and math...
    might bring out something interesting.

This I know.....the odds of hitting are, 1 in 292,201,338 BUT if you pick all the Powerballs (26 to be exact, $52 investment) you then drop your odds down to 1 in 11,688,054. Still huge odds but whatever. Buy every Powerball number (1-26), as for the other five numbers? Who cares, pick anything.

Makes sense, at least that way you KNOW one of the tickets will have the powerball number - potentially
the very least result happens and you win $4.00 and end down $48.00
(This payout makes roulette's crappy payout look like a goldmine lol)
You then have a "not-so-bad" chance of winning the $4.00 or $7.00 payoff and getting a little
back, but to recoop your investment you'd have to have 3 of the 5 numbers with the powerball
(which you know you'll get) to get the $100.00 payoff.

I still think some of the rules in roulette systems (the good ones) can be used, even though
getting 5 numbers on that same ticket with your winning powerball number is insane odds. Laughs.

I would think that according to the math it's the same basic rules.
Some of the numbers are "sleepers" and to be avoided like the plaque of course.
Some are "hot" but the hot numbers don't always show with one-another. (lol).
In the end it's probably safe to say it's all about luck but I still think you can find
    some advantages in this mess.
A Billion dollar payoff is worth the hassle of working on it ;)

The statistics from the past can only be figured out since the rule change (10/7/2015)
So that makes it hard to have enough data.
For the powerball number though (laughs)...
17 of the 26 numbers have shown at least once.
of those - 7 have shown twice.
of those - 2 have shown three times.
Exactly like roulette for a 37/38 spin cycle.

I would avoid the 9 that haven't shown yet - that's for sure.
And the #1 and #10 powerballs have shown 3 times being the most.
If "random" is random - then we can make some good guesses on what the number might be.

I wonder (Ken) in keeping with your new thread....
Play all 26 powerballs but also play the same "other" 5 numbers on each ticket. Hmm.
(as compared to playing "whatever" and each ticket being different)
This would avoid one ticket having all 5 and "not" the powerball, because if you have all 5
and you play every powerball numbers with the 26 tickets - you would win the jackpot.
It's better math than making each ticket different.

I did all that with a local lottery we have here. 6/39 balls (actually RNG). I did the coldest numbers only, the hottest numbers only, a mix of the two etc etc etc.

It made ZERO DIFFERENCE. I did this for three years, seven days a week. End result? I finished no better than letting the machine pick my numbers. Sucks but oh well.

Not bad.....and/or all 26 Powerballs combined with, the other 5, a mix of the hottest 5 numbers drawn over the last six months. Along with the coldest over six months AND a mix of the two. 8 sets of hot, 8 sets of cold, 10 sets of a mix?

Goes against my last post but who the hell knows?

That's a terrible attitude to have Ken !!!
    lol :p
I was watching a "pro" (coughs) this morning who was talking about always playing the same numbers
every time and how that increases your odds over playing new numbers each week or letting the computer pick your numbers. But according to the Powerball site Faq sections (which is actually a little entertaining) - it doesn't matter if you pick your own or let the machine pick them - the winners of the past have done both.

Ugh. I would avoid the cold numbers - One thing I've learned is that cold numbers tend to stay cold, hot numbers tend to stay hot... shrugs.

Yeah.....trial & error (with roulette). I have learned to avoid the cold numbers/sections. You are correct, those cold numbers may stay cold for many many many spins!!

    lol - Sorry :) That's my team.

Good graph - how does it factor in the powerball number though ? It has to be it's own seperate chart

The powerball numbers are randomly drawn but boy those numbers in the 60s haven't fared well.

    60 and 61 - drawn once each.

    65, 66 and 67 - drawn twice each.

    63 and 69 - three each.

Compare to the most frequently drawn numbers that are well into the 200s each.

Some experts say to buy quick picks or at least don't use all birthdays because you'll never pick a number higher than 31.

Here's hoping that someone from this board wins. Good luck!

That's just because they changed the numbers last year at the end of the year to include up to #69
So those high numbers won't have shown up as many times as the others.

I got a bunch of tickets, mostly using the hottest numbers, etc. I let the machine pick a bunch also.
Got some with the cash payout and some with the 20 year payout (laughs).
Who knows. That's such an absurd amount of money
