If you can win flat betting, who the hell wants to use Martingale? Interesting statement/question.

Let me rephrase, “If you CAN win flat betting, you can win more with a positive Martingale.” Not the full blooded Martingale but modified as suggested in this thread. Dare to win.

Also, the other side of the coin, “If you CANNOT win flat betting, you will be decimated with a negative Martingale”. Be scared to lose. All baccarat players will experience a situation when you just cannot win. On this thread I suggest you stop or take a break when certain events happen. On another thread, they may suggest a negative Martingale to recoup your loss. On this thread, I suggest that negative Martingale is likely to exacerbate your losses and leave you a mountain to climb.

Stay alive for your next session.

You cannot have it both ways. Dare to win goes with Dare to lose. Scared to win goes with Scared to lose. When you are winning and lost a big bet, you won't call that Dare to win. You would call that Greedy. But when he wins, you potray it as Dare to win. The end result decides the description. Same for the Scared to lose guys.
Why win and give it all back like Mister X. It's because he dares to win. He is not afraid of losing and that's how he got his Millions. If he is a Scared to lose guy, he wouldn't have achieve that Million in the first place.
Ever experienced situations where you lose all those Dare to win bets and win all those Scared to lose bets? It's like timing the stock market.
Most people are Dare to Win . It's because everytime they do that they gave it back faster than they won it. So when you losing, you never once raise your bet to chase a bit. When you raise your bet, are you contradicting your Scared to lose mentality.?

The reason casinos continue to rack up wins is that each and every scenario is subjected to different interpretations.

Craps’ position is understandable and his rationale is understood. My position is different. I do not profess that ‘Dare to win’ comes with ‘Dare to lose.’

In my world, ‘Dare to win’ means if you make WIAR (Wins In A Row) bets, keep your bet size and/or progressively increase it. My suggested progressions were 2,1,2,2,3,3,4,4.. until a loss. Or at least keep the bet size after a second win. ‘Scared to win’ players will keep reducing their bet sizes or even abstain from betting. Herein lies the difference.

And in my world, ‘Scared to lose’ means I reduce my bet size when I hit a loss. If there are LIAR, I stop. I have a guideline of 3 losses in the last 4 games and I stop. ND stops at 3 LIAR.

Obviously in other perspectives, they can press forward when encountering say 3 LIAR with a negative Martingale. If they win on the 4th bet or 5th bet, they claim they are the ‘Dare to win’ type of players. It distorts the genre. There is a difference. A big difference in my view. A subtle difference in yours?

I have mentioned I rue my story of Mr X. The 2 trips were abominations. He has since adapted. Take it that Mr X situations do happen as with the American who storied me he got his business capital from his casino wins as the Fedex story of the CEO winning in Vegas to keep the company going.

Which leads us back to the title in this thread- Baccarat is the best (small) business.

    Please. Be guided accordingly.

The difference in the classification of whether ‘Dare to win’, ‘Dare to lose’, ‘Scared to win’ or ‘Scared to lose’ is NOT determined AFTER the results of the game.

It is determined WHEN you place the bet. And for sure, a negative Martingale is a ‘Dare to lose’ category. No 2 ways about it.

I am glad this opportunity to explain the classifications came up.

"Scared to lose" came up for me because of a lifetime of catastrophes that solidified themselves in a linear array of efforts belonging to attempts to change the overall outcome of my path in life. I failed after succeeding as a building developer. I failed as a software engineer in the "human markup language" field as a designer and innovator of new interactive developments. I even failed as a gambler. But it is as a gambler, I succeeded after I failed. Proof of that is irrelevant.

Giz, all these classifications pertain to baccarat gaming. Please dont take it and apply to one’s life story.

And while each of us can get philosophical and think our life of ups and downs are unique, let me assure you it is not. You think life has been hard for you? Do you think it even compares to Nick Vujicic? I always believe the saying that ‘If life throws you lemons, make lemonade’. And I shall not bore you with my life story of a father dead at the age of 36 when I was 12. A widowed mother of 33 with 5 kids.

    Coming back to baccarat....

My life's story is not defined by the setbacks. It's spelled out by where and how I approach problems. When I saw the Robert Redford film "Downhill Racer" I decided then and there that I was going to do that. So I started out as a worthless slime of a skier. I started at the very bottom. It took decades only going skiing 10 to 12 times a season. But I made it. I skied in the World Cup in the Men's Downhill. The same goes for rock climbing, windsurfing, golfing, piloting aircraft, SCUBA diving, martial arts, etc... In all those endeavored activities I started out as a failure. It's the very same thing with gambling.

At first I searched for a mechanical system that would let me win all the time. That was a failure. I had to improve beyond that or quit. So I improved. I did not quit. I was never scared to lose in the extreme sport world. I was just aware that becoming apathetic toward these risks was a real threat. Being "scared to lose" is a real factor when it comes to taking on gambling as a risk. I use to deal with it with magical thinking like my luck will turn around if I can just keep reaching for getting back to even.

Gambling is different. I use to play with money that was meant for other purposes. That caused difficulties that I just could not afford. But I knew I was on to something. I needed to stop playing "scared to lose." So I invented rules to play by. I proved to myself that I could live within these rules and eliminate that condition of being "scared to lose." I went from bad to good. This was no different than succeeding at mountaineering skiing. I have succeeded where I use to fail.

I have always thought that a lot of people have lived their whole lives scared to get off the couch, metaphorically speaking that is.

There are many recreational players out there who out class those alleged " pro players ".

These terms have little meaning as there is much overlap.

In pure form a recreational player is someone who goes to the casino and is willing to pay for entertainment. Whether he or she wins or not is almost irrelevant. On the other hand a professional player in pure form is someone who derives all of his income from gambling. There's lots of in-betweens there.

I've never considered myself to be a professional. I've always been self employed involved in different businesses. Gambling has always just been what is now referred to as a "side hustle" for me.

You explained your Dare Win & Dare Lose. It's basically things you do when facing IAR situations. W & L comes in all shapes and sizes. Your approach is too subjective and it is very difficult when making comebacks because WIAR has to be a bit substantial. Why? Because Sacred to Lose will set you back the moment you lose a bet. 2 wins and a loss won't gain you much.
The question is WHAT IS A STOP LOSS FOR? Isn't that mentality take care of all methods and situations? I don't disagree with people chasing negatively but it will be disastrous if they continued recklessly after reaching Stop Loss or not having any in the first place.

Remember the old man and his one unit bankroll? That is the ultimate Scared to lose and Dare to win ( realistically ) approach. Play only on a winning day! His exact words.

I personally witness people winning big because they went on tilt and won that last all in bet and never looked back form there. I know it's unfair to only describe certain situations but the truth is you ONLY present an approach to follow and by no means it works better or worse than any other approaches. Odds and LOA is forever present.

Ain't you curious about the old man and his mindset? It's only meant for someone who gets to go casinos everyday.
Use the wizard of odds free play Bacc. game and bet 500 as your unit. Maximum loss for the day 500. Maximum win could be anything. Experiment with it. This may open your mind. I did it and the results were encouraging. Those occasional big wins is fun and suddenly you find yourself betting so loose that you can't believe it's you.

the fascinating factor about gambling is that it will reflect the person that you are, what you see in a game of chance, your fears, are you afraid that you will reveal your true self without having the power to forgive yourself of making mistakes, your incapability to adapt, to grow, what will others think of you, ect... for many it is easier to pretend that we are winners then to have to tell the truth and admit we are still losing much more then we are winning. we have it made here on a forum where we can just act as what we are not.
not so easy for poker pros who have their records of wins and losses made public. we get away with a lot , but, and here is a big but, does it serves us well in terms of improving our plays, ourselves ?
why it is doing is that by never revealing our true "records", or books, like in a business, we just dont dare to extrapulate the best part that lives in us, the you who is dormant, the sleeping giant.
men fear changes, and he is really afraid of death. taking risks is not what we are looking for, yet we know we have to take that "uneasy path" in order to receive the crown, but we want to control that risk as much as possible so that in case it doesnt kill us we can survive another day.
so here we find ourselves in this everlasting struggle of watching this dog-fight within us.
it all comes down to this; in order to do something we have never done before ,we have to become someone we never been.
when we can look in the mirror and have a look of what that person would look like, and accept and embrace that person, we may just be willing to become that, which is the one we were looking for, and abandon the ugly part of ourselves who has been nothing but a heavy weight dragging us down for all these years. it is all about growing away from the fear of losing. we are not losers because we lose, we become losers when we pretend to be someone we are not.

Gambling is not about wrong or right. Think of ROCK, SCISSORS $ PAPER. Which one is superior? I do not care about how much $$$ is won or lost. I just want to know the assortment of methods and approaches and what makes them work and not work. I found that many people DO NOT support their methods with an explanation. I once lived in Fantasy Island thinking there is a method that can win BIG. After futile attempts after attempts the only solution is either QUIT or WIN SMALL MONEY and NEVER LOSE BIG MONEY.If your method is aiming for that, you can actually succeed.
I am sure most of us DO WIN but can't sustain. This is the reason most of us do not admit failure and criticism. Another problem is most of us are not being realistic about how much we should win with the Bankroll that were at risk.
