    Mah, Poker is an entirely different setting than roulette by default, & that's why joe's not right ..
    the keywords being one-way two-way street.

    There's no exchange by the game facilitator & player other than one-way trip.
    The point is that a player has no way of getting the chips back from the facilitator.

    All players all locked in a cage fighting each other at a zero-sum game;
    the two-way street being between the piles of funds as a whole exchanging in size proportionally,
    but never exceeding the whole, meanwhile the facilitator is literally exhausting the whole.

    The facilitator is suffocating the game as a whole very slowly,
    in small chunks round-by-round, pumping the air out
    & ultimately shrinking the room.

    HE affects all in equal measure, players having no control over it.

    Roulette is an entirely different ball-game;
    there's no exchange between players at all
    & the only exchange is a two-way street between the facilitator & the player.

    This ain't a zero-sum game!
    .. although from a perspective of a single spin it might seem so.

    The player has no control over paying the tax, each & every time s/he wins the bet;
    but definitely can work all of its paid-tax back (& then some more ..).

    The point is, if s/he plays smart, s/he only pays the tax, in each game to positive=system reset, on the last successful bet won!

    That's the only tax s/he cannot avoid paying.

    Paying the out.
    Paying (for) the out.
    Paying to facilitate the out.
    Paying to seal the deal.

    So from this point of view DSSA is entirely correct;
    winning consistently means =you cannot lose more than than the he.

    poker is a entire different ball game really ? ouah , didn't know that. missed my point entirely, which is , the house gets paid its share on the money being played , won or lost, dont matter. the more flows through the more they take their "tax". that is all i am saying .

    @Rinad .. you're correct, both have he incorporated, all fine

    the msg is globally intended & specifically addressing the BTF-crew cannot grasp the significance of he in roulette properly, so again, no, joe is not correct

    EvenBob/Spike STILL doesn't understand the difference between "hold" and "house edge". Both are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

    And you still don't know how to read a post correctly. I pointed out the difference between the hold and the house edge, that was the point. Duh. and Duh again.

    Its greed whick kills the game for most people.

    I was with a group of friends a while back now one guy is £4500 up playing roulette,wants to get to 5k so bets 500 on red ,loss,goes 1 k red,loss ,before he knows it he is walking out the casino £ 500 down.

    It's greed and total not understanding of what's happening. People think they win the money because of some kind of skill they have when it's actually just luck. Setting a goal for yourself when you have no system and no skill is the kiss of death. Not enough people keep a cool head when they are winning. The same person who would shop online at 6 different places to spend $40 on an electric drill, when winning in the casino will act like the money means nothing and that it's super easy to get. It changes their normal frugal personality into recklessness. I can't count the number of times my wife has cried all the way home when she won a bunch of money and gave it all back. A woman who pinches every dime till it screams will sit there $400 ahead at the slot and give it all back wanting more more more. It really defies all logic and common sense.

    I've told this story many times. 20 years ago I was bored import $5 in a slot in one $2,500. The amount I took home was $2,500 and I have not played another slot. I knew that it was obviously pure unadulterated luck and why would I be stupid enough to think I would be lucky twice.

    Greetings : I do like this thread's title.. It cuts right to the point.. I'd rather think of it as , Who is playing for a profit? That is how I prefer to play .. There are many theories of one position or another of why this or that play is the better.. So, who is playing for a profit?.. My personal game is Baccarat but the nearest game is a couple hour drive.. My local casino which is 15 mile drive has 21, and a few other Carnival style table games and of course slots.. So chime in and tell your best "wheel" story!!

    As with everything else, do you serve the greed or does it work for you .. who's the master?
    Ain't nothing bad about greed, its you ..

    the only way to win consistently is to have a mind that "loves to learn". and because winning is "addictive", I had no choice to learn or ending up living on a side walk in a cardboard box. that simple.
    being able to show profit after playing hundreds of sessions is the only way you will know if you "got it".
    like in business you start small, you are happy when you sale 100 units a day, 2 years later you average 250 units, 5 years later 1000 units. it can only happen when you KNOW why it is that you do NOW, that you DID NOT DO before.
    and that is KEY.
    and that is the dynamic for EVERYTHING you will succeed with in life.

    Sure. Safe to say he might well be?

    You think he’s just randomly plopping his bets on the board?
