The "basket bet" is a seriously bad bet.

"The “basket” bet lets you bet on five numbers with one chip. ... The basket bet is what's known in roulette parlance as a “seriously sucky bet.” That's because while the house edge in American roulette (European roulette has a zero, but no double zero) is 5.26%, the edge on a basket bet is 7.89%."-https://www.casino.org/vitalvegas/three-weird-ass-roulette-bets-you-need-to-know/

Another seriously stupid bet is any bet that you place on a triple zero roulette wheel.

Even looking at a triple zero roulette wheel should have a punishment attached to it.

The surest way to make roulette a losers game, and probably the Achilles heel for most players is, no off button.

If you got no off button you will run out of juice so many times that loss of everything is inevitable.

Your off button should be 10 times larger then you're on button. Watch any table in a casino playing roulette and people are betting every single spin. They are doomed to lose.

    Albert Einstein said of roulette:

The only way to beat roulette is to steal money when the croupier isn't looking

but then, Einstein didn't have the analytical abilties of the geniuses on this forum who consistently beat negative expectancy games with their money management or bet selection systems

Einstein is overrated. He never played roulette he never studied roulette. But like every other math guy he had his opinion about roulette.

Spike is obviously a great genius. He has accomplished what so many brilliant men have proclaimed is impossible

Surely, he should be nominated for a Nobel Prize as recognition for his work in the field of probability

Blush.. I don't know if I would call myself 'great', but thanks for the compliment. I would say I'm more of an above-average genius rather than a great genius.

    "The Basket Bet

The “basket” bet lets you bet on five numbers with one chip. When you bet in the position pictured below, you’re betting on zero, double zero, 1, 2 and 3, all at the same time.

The basket bet is what’s known in roulette parlance as a “seriously sucky bet.” That’s because while the house edge in American roulette (European roulette has a zero, but no double zero) is 5.26%, the edge on a basket bet is 7.89%. You’ve been warned."

    Keyser,

Now question for you. Where do you think the idea that the law of the third is a winning system came from?

How about regression to the mean? Or the idea that section betting in roulette provides an edge?

Have you ever taken a part a wheel? How about repaired one? How many have you owned?

Here's the source of the "Law of the Third" or "Phillips Third". It all happened back in 1982.

    "5th February, 1982."

"Two Las Vegas gambler's use an astonishing system dubbed "Phillips Thirds" to bag a profit of at least XXXX at a Northhampton casino.
Now the Chronicle and Echo can reveal the first time how the system works."

Both the police and management at the Rubicon Sporting Clu, have refused to comment on a gambler's dream formula with according to witnesses, a 75 percent success rate.

But the two big time professional gambers who rocked the Rubicon, have been raking in the profits all over the world.

The brains behind the system calls himself Paul Phillips, "a mathematical genius" according to generally sceptical Rubicon regulars."

Later it was reported in other news that Phillip's Law of the Third was the reason for their success. The gullible public soaked it up, and the casinos preferred that cover story over the truth as well.

After an extended period in several news publications, adds began appearing in the back of magazines, newspaper classified adds, and other circulars selling the so called system. Hucksters around the world attempted to sell the system as a way to make money. Of course the system was nothing more than a bogus cover story for a couple of professional VB players. The so called "law of the third" and it's success is built on a very old lie. You can even find proponents of the system on the old Gambler's Glen archives and old books.

And by the way, I know both people from the story. Their success litters roulette history, and news.
