After looking everything over as best I could, the following 24 are what I came up with for betting Pattern Combos. Some are 5 outcomes long and some longer. Bet the last color to the right of the pttern If the bet selection hits, continue betting the structure of the pattern. If the bet selection looses, bet same as last outcome. I know this is all funny business to you, but at least I hope you enjoy doing it.

Those 4 above are direct quotes from you. This is exactly what you said you do. Those are things you apply to make a bet selection. You said it yourself. Either you apply those statements or you don't. If you don't, then you lie again. If you do, they are rules. A rose by any other name is still a rose.

I finally figured out why you are on this thread. You have a love for arguing, You are one of those people who just cannot be wrong. Once you make a statement, even if it's a lie. you will argue tooth and nail to defend that lie. You have argued with just about everybody on this thread over what they post in order to tell them what they said is not correct. Your right, they're wrong. Didn't you notice by now, there is not one person on this thread that agrees with anything you say.

You have told me that what I post in response to you is worthless and you could care less. You said many times that you are done with me and you will no longer respond to any of my replies to you. But, you do, you respond back every time. I'll bet you, you will respond to this post and it will be how I am wrong again and you are right.

You said somwhere that people have been treating you like this for 16 years. 16 years, that ought to tell you something. Lol. You truly need to see your psychiatrist and have him change the medication you're on.

I have attached below a word document of these patterns. When I pasted and copied it here it screwed it up.

NONE of them apply to my bet selection. Deciding when to bet has nothing to do with making the actual selection, what the hell is wrong with you. What do you think I do decide now is the time and just throw my chips onto the board? Deciding where, exactly where I'm going to place a bet has no rules attached to it whatsoever. Why do you think rules work with random outcomes that's, the mystery. Random does not follow rules. You do not understand how random works at all. Here's another rule I have, I always tip the waitress a dollar when she brings me a beer. Now you'll say, you do have rules. Good grief..

You truly have no idea of how random works, obviously. You think you can make up your own rules and random was going to follow those rules. It doesn't work that way is you will find out if you ever go to a real casino and play real money with your stupid Martingale. But we both know that's never going to happen. Oops, I just thought of another rule I have. I always leave after one hour of play because I'm usually too tired to play longer than an hour because concentrating that long is difficult for anybody. So you can add that rule to your other meaningless rules that have nothing to do with my bet selection.

Using a regex pattern match would be the most efficient and flexible approach to expressing matching criteria.

    David,

You really should be beyond this stuff by now. There are plenty of resources out there that already prove that this just won't work, as well as simple logic.

Agree that all patterns are equally likely.

An approach that has some validity is using Conway's leading numbers and select those patterns with the lowest waiting time. If you reset after each succesful match you do alter the distribution counts of certain patterns.

In contrast if you instead use a continuous stream matching approach the occurance of all patterns will appear equally, even though the waiting time for some patterns differs. Patterns like a streak of 3 XXX has a much longer waiting time than OXX but when a streak pattern appears any continuation of the streak results in multiple matches back to back thus on balance the distribution counts of all patterns is the same.

So to avoid this, restart the matching process, so you're always betting for the patterns with the lowest waiting time and effectively reduce the occurance rate of the nemises patterns.

The wandwaver spouting more nonsensical rubbish.

You just got through explaining how one of triggers you look for patterns to make your educated guess.

Use a text editor like notepad, not Word. I have attached the set of patterns of length 10. They are in an easier to read format so that you can see the patterns more clearly without straining your eyes.

    1. XXXXXXXXXX
    2. XXXXXXXXXo
    3. XXXXXXXXoX
    4. XXXXXXXXoo
    5. XXXXXXXoXX
    6. XXXXXXXoXo
    etc...

I suggest you open the file with notepad and either start from the top and work down, and for each pattern start from the right end and look back. e.g. pattern 1 above is obviously a streak so I assume you would want to continue betting X. Mark this on the file in brackets :
    1. XXXXXXXXXX(X)

Pattern 2 you might see as the start of a chop in which case the bet would be X again:

    2. XXXXXXXXXo(X)

pattern 5 you might see as the beginning of a oXX oXX pattern. I don't know, it's up to you because you're the one using patterns and supposedly know what works best.
TwoUp suggested using regex but that's quite technical and I doubt if you've heard of it, but if you have a list of patterns in mind you could use the "Find" function in notepad to search for patterns. However, I think it's better to work systematically through the whole list. It might seem daunting but you don't need to do it all in one day. Just do 100 a day and in 10 days you'll be finished and will have given yourself the best chance for the bet selection to work. As you work through there might be patterns you hadn't considered such as XooXXXooXX, which is a 2-3 pattern - next bet X.

When finished upload the annotated file here, and don't change the name of it or the extension.

Anyone else is welcome to do the same. The program will work just the same whatever the actual bets are, so it won't be any more work testing different bet selections.

Clear as mud I'm afraid. :(

So you're using a parachute progression.
You've run this progression 620 times?
calculate the expected max - max what? Number of spins without a hit?
if q is a probability it doesn't make sense to say q <2, because a probability is always <= 1, so maybe q isn't a probability? if so, what is it?

If you want some stats pertaining to your parachute progression ( or the "max" of something), it's very unlikely that there will be a neat formula or analytical answer to your question, which means that a simulation will be needed. Most complex stats questions don't have formulaic solutions, which perhaps explains (apart from the lack of clarity) why you haven't had any responses on the forums.

Why do you have to be such a spoil sport, you're ruining all the fun. He thinks he has the Holy Grail in Mister Martingale and it's very entertaining for the rest of us. So please keep your negative comments to yourself.

That's because every number is equally likely on every spin. Duh. But this has nothing to do with anything as far as patterns go because the patterns you think you see are not real. It's your brain wrongly interpreting what's happening. The way to exploit patterns is be familiar with what happens when roulette is in certain phases of outcomes. These phases tend to be very similar to each other and can be exploited. I'm sorry there's no witchcraft involved here or magic or precognition, just observation and experience. Something that the cult of math abhors.

The patterns that are not real, they are patterns our brain makes up. But it doesn't matter they can still be exploited.

"The gambler’s paradox is the phenomenon of someone who places bets and looks for patterns to take advantage of. However, those patterns tend not to actually be there, according to American physicist, Richard A Mueller. Each spin of the roulette is inherently random, and in the world of gambling, streaks (patterns) don’t empirically exist. Someone who is placing bets looks for patterns and bets to take advantage of them. But the patterns aren't really there and so the gambler who is looking for patterns and 'streaks' is really only fooling himself."

Empirically: originating in or based on observation and experience

I know this is over your head but I gave it a shot anyway.

Actually, he's not claiming that the marty is giving him the edge, only his bet selection which according to his stats is superior to random selection or betting one side continuously. That doesn't mean his bs will result in a flat bet profit, but that it appears to reduce the dispersion between hits, which is a much more modest claim than the one you're making. On the face of it that seems reasonable, because IF his bs really does do this, why shouldn't the marty be the best possible progression to use given the particular distribution of hits he achieves? He has tried other progressions and found that they don't yield such good profits as the marty does.
