Granted I dont travel much but a friend of mine told me this after a visit to LV. He went to several casinos so I'm not really sure which one?

Anyways, he was playing roulette at a $15 min table. The outside and inside bet was $15 min.

You had to bet BOTH. You could do $15 on the outside and go nuts on the inside (or vice versa) but you MUST bet both. I never heard of that.

The $15 min outside bet is the cost for the dealer to spin the wheel. Gamblers can chose to pay more. The $15 min inside bet is the min gambers bet. Why spin the wheel if the gambler doesn't bet?

I guess so???? I have never heard of mandatory betting on BOTH. Interesting none the less.

    NO. LOL!

Here's the deal. In order to bet on the outside, you have a $15 min. Meaning you have to bet $15 total in a specific location in order to satisfy the min. bet.

In order to bet on the inside, you'd have to bet a min of $15 in total, spread about on the numbers or straight up on a single number if you so choose. You could bet 15 one dollar chips, or three five dollar chips in order to meet the min.

However, there's no requirement that you bet on the outside at all!

In Las Vegas there are one, two, and three zero wheels.

No, you do NOT have to bet on both. There's no place in the country that requires such a bet.

I agree, no casino would do this because nobody would play roulette if they did.

Well, either my friend is bullshitting or mistaken. Thats why I brought the subject up. I will try and extract which casino he went to.

Then I'll call there (call me Magnum PI).

I talked to my friend today, he said it was the New York New York casino.

So I called there and spoke to pit. He said.....nope, that is not a rule.
False alarm guys, maybe my buddy had too many cocktails? (lol)

There's a slim chance it could be some obscure Indian Casino up there.

I remember back when the Luxor in Las Vegas first opened. I was the only person playing at a table. I was allowed to only place bets in the middle portion of the layout. In order to place bets in the first dozen or third dozen of numbers, I was required to have the dealer place those bets because of where I was setting at the table.

In Oklahoma at the Osage Casino, when they very first started dealing the live wheel, I watched an entire shift of dealers spin the wheel in the same direction as the ball. At the Atlantis Casino in the Bahamas, the dealers are quite lazy, and this happens periodically as well.

In New Orleans, the dealers at the old Rapid Roulette game would sometimes allow bets on the numbers after the ball had landed. Again, the dealers were rather lazy. Hole carding crews were also decimating the casino.

Sounds like it would have been cheaper to train their staff and correct procedures instead of being such a soft target.
