My local casino has a bank of 6 linked IGT Progressives:

    2 Triple Stars
    2 Triple 777 Red Hot
    2 Triple Lucky 7's

$1 machine, 3 coins for progressive, 3 reel pay center line only
Meter move = 1% (3 cents per pull)

I first noticed these when the progressive was around 10,600; not sure what it started at. There is a
similar bank of machines with the progressive at 2,800. This one is now at 23,300.

With this information only, can it be determined if this is plus EV or is a par sheet needed? I'm new to machine play and know next to nothing yet.

Knowing it's just a 1% meter, and with no other information available, I seriously doubt these progressives ever go positive.

Thanks, that was my reaction as well. The house edge is probably 5 to 10%, which is hard to overcome unless the meter progresses very generously.

    Samson,

MickeyCrimm is absolutely right, and when MickeyCrimm writes something (while sober) you can take whatever he said directly to the bank and make your deposit. That deposit will be worth over 100%, just like all of the plays MickeyCrimm does.

That said, I do not know what your level of interest or free time is, but for a particular unit (which tends to be true of all same denomination units of the same game in a given House) you can do an Empirical analysis of a game by which you watch and track the results of several thousand spins to determine not only the probability of the Progressive, but also, the probability of all of the other plays. This is a time-consuming process and the results will not ALWAYS be accurate, (unless you have an unbelievably enormous sample size) but they will generally give you a close enough guesstimate that you can have a strong belief that a machine is positive.

Of course, this information is often lots of analysis for little profit. As MickeyCrimm pointed out, a machine with that kind of meter move will often not go enough cycles (number of spins in which the top result is expected to hit) without hitting in order to yield an advantage.

    Mission146 -
Yeah, I didn't understand the importance of meter movement on these machines.

Oh - I knew anything Mickey writes on slot AP is solid gold. He's the reason I joined this board; I've read his posts on other sites and could instantly tell he was the real deal.

Progressive Video Poker Games means that if you learn what point the jackpot level pushes the EV on a progressive video poker machine over 100% you can use this to your advantage.
