'Murica is fan-fucking-tastic, at least in the sticks. But a majority of us are urbanites, and your "IMO" is one I share. I don't know how the fuck they do it. Put me in the city and I'd be murdering people on a daily basis.

But that's a decent observation about the "push back". People are tired of getting fucked over and out and are looking for the "establishment" so they can fuck them back. And unfortunately, the establishment has used 5-0 to further their agendas. The majority of my friends are some sort of peace officer, from Corrections all the way to DHS. And most (if not all, I haven't discussed it with every one) are against many of the things they've been sworn to uphold. None enjoy busting folks for a pinner (joint), none enjoy dingin' someone for 5 over, none will even enforce NYS' asinine SAFEAct. But this stuff is nonetheless their job. So when Jonny Blaze gets hit with thousands in fines, jail time, and has his vehicle and all its contents stolen by .gov because of a nickel bag, he doesn't see the bureaucratic fuck that caused it. All he sees is Officer Friendly taking his shit. Guess who then receives the ire...

The system is fucked here. People know it. We've passed awareness, we're into anger. The push back is just starting. And I guaran-damn-tee the response to this from .gov will be along the same lines that caused the problems in the first place. In other words, the shit ain't even hit the fan yet. Critical mass is on the horizon, and we've no signs of slowing down.

Why do you want to create a caste system? Haven't you had enough of "protected classes"? You don't strike me as an "equality in outcome" sort of fellow.

Cops are already a protected class, as are firemen, first responders, some judges IIRC. I remember a bunch of laws being created a few years back when someone committed arson to draw in first responders so he could then mow him down. It became a stiffer penalty to attack such folks. And it matters not a goddamn bit.

People need to understand that laws are fucking pointless. Laws are great for creating a general framework of behavior to enhance daily life. They are NOT a fucking panacea that you can just waft around and solve all your problems with. Just look at most of the folks here. Most were trounced from WoV from breaking WoV's "laws". Why did they do that, when said laws were so simple? Easy. Because their beliefs were in conflict with those laws.

I've made no secret that I'm a raging ammosexual. I have at least 8 firearms in this room alone. I have made it a point to break every single NYS law when it comes to firearms. Pistol grips, 30rd mags, collapsible stocks, muzzle breaks, even have one that's full auto. Why? Because fuck NY. My beliefs are that I have the right to bear arms. Not because of the Constitution; that's just my shield of protection. I have the right because I'm a free man, and as a free man, I have the right to defend myself. Could be from a stray dog, a black bear, some punk looking to jolt his self esteem, some jilted lover whose girl was tooken by me, some dirt bag thief, some rapist, some bad cop, some entire US government. I don't give a fuck who thinks I need what, or who thinks I DON'T need what. I am a free man and an adult. I make my own decisions.

Fortunately, I was mostly raised right and am mostly a "good guy". But these same feelings I have are held by many if not all. And if someone gets bent and their wants and desires turn to violence, ain't no fucking piece of paper gonna stop them, just as it doesn't stop me.

I get so tired of saying it, but people need to stop attacking the fucking result. When you get dandylions in your fucking yard, you don't go snip the fuzzy balls off and call it a day. You attack the motherfucking source, dig out the roots and kill the son of a bitch. All this bullshit about higher penalties is snipping fuzzy balls. It's flat out asinine.

You don't kill cop killers. You kill the desire to kill cops. Of course, that's a "hard fix", and we're fat and lazy America. Don't expect any help any time soon, it doesn't hurt enough yet. But it will...

good thoughtful post. But if anything is to blame, its neither side that is pointing the fingers at each other. Its what society(and the people we vote for and allow to stay in office) created.

We dont have resources for the mentally ill....so we dump them on the street and leave it for the police to sort out.
We dont have enough money to have police "walk the beat" anymore so we enclose them in bulletproof metal vehicles and wonder why they dont have a "sense of community"
We allow our borders to be a porous sieve, where criminals and the mentally ill, even when discovered are allowed to roam the streets....and we leave it for the cops to sort out
We allow generation after generation of welfare families to multiply, without putting any limits on resources they are allowed to use, thereby not encouraging them to seek employment......allowing them to have as many children as they want.....children that grow up wanting all the "stuff" that hard working families have .....and we leave it to the cops as they have to deal with these offspring taking shortcuts to getting the "stuff" they want.
(Back in the 60s, the only real difference between rich and poor kids was the house they lived in....we all had cap guns, balls and bats, a pair of non descript sneakers, and non descript jeans.....today the ":stuff" available is incredible".)
We cut back on resources for the police force so some have quotas on traffic tickets so they can financially survive as a unit...leading to what I see almost every weekend on the way home from reno.......highway patrol stationed near the bottom of a steep decline....waiting to get grandma and grandpa in a 5 second "gotcha moment...while real crime is occuring. But we as a society create the need for this activity.
We dont have enough money for after school programs ....so we leave it to the police to clean up the results of unsupervised kids getting in trouble

So as we and the politicians we keep voting for, allow the above to occur.....the police get more on their plate, having to do more with less.

So here we are. We created a workplace for police to work in where they need to cut corners in order to survive. Where maybe they have become numb to the conditions that they have been put in. Where the tiiping point, or the snapping point threshold is getting lower and lower each passing week. Where there is more and more crap for them to clean up, and less and less help to do it.

I dont blame the cops for the actions we have seen in the past 2 weeks. And I dont blame the people who are bitter and protesting.
I blame We the people....for allowing this to occur over a period of decades....with elected officials that we allow to represent us.

you want unhindered immigration, you want low taxes so the mentally ill roam free, you want unlimited welfare for those who holdout their hands,
you want lower state and city tax, so its ok to cut back on manpower including police and school programs. Leave it all for the police to clean up...and this is what you get.

this has nothing to do with giving police better training. If only it were that simple.
