Some interesting statistics about slot machine players. These stats came from an Oregon State University study.

The most common profile was a female homeowner between the age of 55-60 with atleast some college education and a income of over $55,000.

70% of a casinos revenue comes from slot machines.
Just as popularity of slot machines has increased, however, so has the diversity of machines. Gone are the old-fashioned one-armed bandits that would offer rows of cherries, oranges, and plums. In their place is a dizzying array of machines featuring wizards, loud music, game show characters and other traits to lure potential customers.

For you video poker players here are the findings from this survey. The most popular video poker games were “Jacks or Better” (31.8 percent), followed by “Deuces Wild” (21 percent) and “Double Double Bonus” (16.9 percent).

Thanks. I think I found the 2012 press release for the study. They surveyed more than 1,000 slot players, which is a large sample -- but all the participants were subscribers to "Strictly Slots" magazine. They surveyed "smart gamblers" rather than ordinary degenerates.

In my experience, that's the only way they could have found a group of people who prefer "Jacks or Better" video poker. Most gamblers are action junkies who only play games with "Double" or "Triple" in the title.

I like how detailed this is, I don't really think too much into it when I sit down at a machine or load one up online but it's very interesting! Thanks for sharing.

That's a bogus profile. The income and college profile are a load of bs. All they have done is cherry picked the data for some new casino development. 6a00d8341c301153ef0120a7a390df970b-pi.jpg

The average slot player when you look around is likely 50s to 70s, female, possibly high school grad or GED equiv., and smokes like a dragon.

No way in hell is jacks or better the "favorite" VP type among players. DDB is beyond a shadow of a doubt the favorite or at least most played game type of VP.

I wonder what the results would be if a more accurate survey was conducted -- walk through a casino and note which game someone is playing. Do that for multiple casinos over a few different days (weekday morning & night, weekend morning & night).

Totally agree,DDB is WAY more popular then boring JACKS,even with the half percent difference...DDB has got to be played 5 times more IMO...I'll play the best game available, but many do not(Ploppies/Donkeys/Civilians)..They want the roller coaster ride, rather then the best possible payout.
