This is my 2nd post and so I guess this is hello! I hope to post a load more here and get to know you guys.



I have searched high and low for information on this, with no luck so! So....I am turning to the users of the sites who I imagine will know more than the sites themselves (maybe)!


I am writing a piece on the history of online casino bonuses and free sports bets. All articles I can find online that cover the matter are weak on detail. Everything I find online does not include any real date information other than it was late 1990's. Nor is there any juicy info on the terms and conditions of the initial bonuses.

I know that the first cash wager at an online Casino was in 1996 at InterCasino (as far as I can tell) however, I want to know when the first deposit bonuses were offered.

What were the terms and conditions, I read that they were easier to turn into a profit due to no wagering requirements etc? Do you have an information on the early bonuses offered and by who? Perhaps a law was passed that enabled a sign up bonus to be offered?

Additionally do you know when the first sports freebet was offered? What year and by who?

Do you have any images of the offers offered?

Any help would be very useful.

Why would anybody want to buy and read a book about the history of online casino bonuses?

Seriously, who would be the target audience for such a tome?

 

When internet commerce was rather new, maybe 12 years ago....I would get great "deals"....like 50 percent off the first order..just to get people used to the newfangled way of buying things. Alot of places gave "free gifts" to induce a skeptical first time buyer. Once I bought a small item, and what happened was I got the free gift, but the item I ordered was out of stock....so IT was a total freebee.
Getting someone to give personal credit card info online was hard fr these businesses, so a first timer incentive was often given.

Those days are gone with online retail, and with Online casinos. People have no problem plopping down their credit card online. Online retail and online casinos have a track record that people can read about online...in YELP type venues and on message boards.

Its not the great uknown anymore...so you cant compare past and present

Not to be a dick or anything, but I always wondered how or why someone would want to write about something they didn't participate in and knew nothing about unless its investigative reporting under a current topic. Who or what are you writing this for for exactly?

 

Lots of money to be made IF you know what you are doing. Location is also a big factor.

 

I want to write about the history of matched betting and how it came about. It's huge in the UK now and I want to write a piece for my blog.

It started with casino bonuses way back when they first started and I want to know what were the first bonuses like and who was pioneering the bonus phenomenon.

I guess it was called bonus banging or something back then.
