This is my opinion. I realize not everyone will agree or even understand. Lets take the 25/28 split as an example. Why bet more than one unit on it? Meaning, we'll say I actually want to bet 5 units on it.

2 on 25 & 2 on 28 & 1 on the split. Of course putting all 5 on the split pays the same, I dont argue that.

My point being, its NOT needed to put them all on the split. Another.....you have 6 units. Why put them on the split? 3 on 25 & 3 on 28. Another......you have 9 units. 4 on the 25 & 4 on the 28 & 1 on the split. You'll never need to go over ONE unit for that split. I was playing last night, I see so many goofs with STACKS on splits (lol).

The only odd exception I could see.....others have a huge stack on 25 and you really dont want to add to it, I get it. Then maybe use that split.

I think you are missing the point Ken, what's important is not the amounts, whether you bet 2 units on a split or 1 + 1 straight up it doesn't make any difference.
The actual difference is that when the 2 numbers I want to bet are 7 and 11 for example, then I cannot bet them with a single split.
When most of the time the numbers which I select are NOT located side by side on the table then why to bet splits?
Just because I wager less, 1 instead of 2 units?
Less wagers is ONLY better when you lose because you lose less, more units pay also more thus better when you win.
To create a betting plan around the idea that splits cost half as much from the straight ups is plain stupid!

By the way, did you feed the bottom-line of the casino today?
You know about bottom-feeds, don't you boy? ;)

So if I want to bet 15 units on the 25/28 split you suggest I should put 14 on the 25, 14 on the 28, and 1 on the split?

Why not make everyone's life easier and just put 5 units on each position?

The only real benefit of betting the split is to increase the table limit beyond that of the single numbers.

Give me an example of your split bet issue. I'm not talking about corner bets etc.

Still you don't get it, don't you?!
Ok, let me make it quarters for you, I want to bet 7, 13, 24, 26 and 36, there is not even 1 split which could be used instead of 2 straight ups.
Now if you were asking me why the numbers I bet are so far apart on table layout perspective that would be interesting question, but I do have the answer for this too...

Here's another little gem, kinda on the same subject. If you are using dollar chips, with STACKS of them all over the fuckin place.......PLEASE USE NICKELS instead. You want to talk about SPEEDING up the game? There's a good start.

Lets try this question AGAIN regarding splits....give me an example of a split bet where you need to have 9 chips on the line?

Yes 7 & 7 and 1, sorry haven't had my morning coffee yet.

Yes why not just put 5 units on each?

And if I want to bet 45 units on 25/28 split why not 15 on each instead of 22 & 22 and 1?

I don't bet splits, I would bet 9 chips all inside the number(s).

You could say that 1 + 1 units on 2 straight up numbers pays 35 units net, while 2 units on a single split pays 2 x 17 = 34 net, but actually makes no difference since in both cases 2 units incoming and 36 returning.

Listen, I'm NOT saying its illegal to put 12 chips on a split. I'm NOT saying the net will be different. All I'm ASKING (not telling), why complicate things with HIGH stacks. For the dealer, I bet its easier/quicker for a 6 chip straight up payout compared to a 12 chip split.

Also, we have the issues with idiots KNOCKING over HIGH stacks. This too lengthens the game.

    Now look who's talking!
If it's easy for straight up then it's easy for splits payout too, just half the payout of a straight up minus the bet.
