This might force you to go against everything you believe in lol.

    Here's the question -

3 horses are in a race - they all start at the same time - except...
    they each run randomly.
Meaning - their speed isn't predictable at all, it can change every step of the race.
A horse could run fast, slow, not move.....who knows ???? But each horse runs the
    race in this manner randomly.

One horse wins the race (eventually of course) - where do the other two horses finish ?

Here's some possible answers, or use your own...
    1) They all finish equally at the same moment
    2) One horse finishes and the other two trail behind about 1/3 of the way back
    3) One horse finishes and the 2nd place horse is around 1/3 of the way back, the last place
horse is about 1/3 of the way back from the 2nd place horse
    4) Some other answer
    5) I don't know anything about how random works, stop bothering me

I have a follow up question, if you decide to answer this one... and it just might change your
mind about everything you think you believe about random.

    Turbo,

It all depends on the TROT! LOL!!!

For a horse to come in second a horse has to come in first.
For a horse to come in third a horse has to come in second.
There's an elegant pattern here! LOL!!!

    LOL

No, seriously - we already know what horse won - where are the other two horses on the track ?

There is a long running perfect pattern here. You are still making horse sense.

It's going to be tough for some of "those people" to answer this question and have to admit
    how random works.
If they even answer the question.
And the next question is even better... if we ever get there :)

I can see many anecdotal questions coming. I hope there is a version where three spaceships are in orbit around Saturn.

    What the heck:

There are three rocket ships that all leave Earth at the same time. One was in Russia and has six heavy lift engines loaded into the final stage, the Saturn Mission Rocket. Another one was launched in China and has 12 Bamboo Engines in its Saturn Mission Rocket. The last one was launched in the USA and has 8 Saturn Five main stage engines in its final stage Saturn Mission Rocket.

Although they left Earth orbit at the same time, because they have different thrust capacity, they will not reach Saturn at the same time. To add to that they started out and will end up weighing different amounts from start to finish. Some will burn more fuel on launch from Earth orbit to reach Saturn orbit. Each rocket ship has different numbers of astronauts and different amounts of supplies and experiments.

Because of the entry angle and speed for each Saturn orbit, considering the different weights of each rocket ship, each ship took a different vector toward a different location for where Saturn was located in it's own orbit around the Sun when each ship arrived.

Now all this is considered when planning such an expedition assuming that the celestial mechanics and the all the extraneous data is all factored in.

So what matters here is, will the lightest ship with the least thrust or the heaviest ship with the greatest thrust get there first?

But how many horses do you go for at one time ?
    2,3,4 ?
and when these horse all bunch up together how far do you go with your staking before you quit and wait for the next race ?
And the main key in my opinion is the staking on the horses which none of us have no idea about

Horses do not run randomly and their speed is predictable, all wrong as usual, bogus claims about things he does not know. You should rather work on your repeaters HolyGrail which obviously cannot do better than the 4th place at Roulette Simulator, funny.

All of those can be calculated ahead of time before the launch even happens and predicted.
    It's not random.
The horse race analogy is though - each horse runs randomly (they are special horses that run the race completely randomly) and when one finally wins - the others will typically be at predictable positions on the track... but where ? If the person I asked can't answer it, then he doesn't understand how random works.
If he does answer it - then he has to go against what he supposedly believes, that random isn't predictable.
    What a conundrum.

Not relevant at this point, we have a winner - where are the other two horses on the track.
Once this is explained by the person I asked, the rest might be obvious.

Ok the let me ask you this.
In a 37/38 horse race how many horses would you bet on maximum ?

Only one that offers a payout higher than his probability to win the race. (ex: 37% chance of a win, payout: 3/1). You can do this with horse racing but not with roulette (unbiased) 1/37 odds for each numbers, return: 36 units.

Never bet on a race with more than 8 horses.

Exacta for horses A and B

    Bet Place on horse A

Bet Show on one 6 : 1 horse.

Not so bad HHEHE Smart people will understand this method.

Nathan, I used to think like you that the less horses in the race, the more likely you are to win because of the probability, but I can tell you by experience it is not the number of horses that matters, it is the opposition of one horse against the others. You can have what we call an opened 8 horses race (because all 8 horses have around the same value and form), and a 16 horses race where one horse is much better than the others and wins by 10 steps ahead, with a nice payout, contrary to fewer horses race with low payouts.

Let's not confound horses which are running athletes with balls or papers took randomly from a hat like Turbo the sucker is explaining.

Ya, I get it. It is very common for the favorite to only place or show. So you buy all the Exactas that include the expected top two to five in any order. This way you get great odds on the Exactas. You just don't buy any long shots with the favorite to win. It can place and show in combination with other long shots. Trifectas are only worth while when you can get monster odds.

Here the combination bets are much more taxed, that's why someone who wants to play with an edge would stay away from those. But for you and TurboGenius who have the ability to read randomness, even with 99% taxed on your bets you would still be long term winners :D

This has absolutely nothing to do with horse racing.
The horses are an analogy - use "dogs" if you want - or randomly moving mechanical robots, it doesn't
matter - as long as they each move randomly and their position at any time can't possibly be predicted
    ... can it ? :)
    ..
    ..
    sighs.

Sir Anyone - throw in your answer.. I asked Steve at the other forum too.

Don't kid yourself. Randomness has nothing to do with horse racing.
