    Gerard,
If anybody were to tell you about bet selection and how successful they are, they are just BS.Every bet selection works when it is working. Your guess is as good as mine. However you can fool yourself by charting which will help you in making a decision of what to bet. There are infinite ways to do a 5 step Marty. You can play all 5 hands in a row, or you can play 5 individual hands not in a row. You can choose B or P and you can choose follow or against.Be able to dictate what is working for a certain shoe is SKILL. BUt you can still lose but it will have to be a perfect storm.
Use triggers and see how those triggers are doing e.g. take all natural 8 and 9 and see whether the hand after that is following or against. So the next time you see a natural you kind of have an idea what to bet. Again you have to look at the MAIN road. If it is running B and your chart says P, you might not want to make that P bet.
The 5 Marty is a very powerful progression. Use that to win 8 units for a session of play (2-3) shoes.Quit if you lose 5 in a row(31) units. Comeback another day. You will be amazed by the results.
If you want action, then you shouldn't do a Marty. If you say those famous words like "see how it goes" OR "I came here to gamble", then a 5 step Marty is not for you.

5 step Marty has value. I like keeping it simple and using XXXX P or B. I tend to use it sparingly but you might want to give it a try as a stand alone. Personally I like to look at the texture of the shoe and guess that a run won't go 6 times. That means I am going to wait for a repeat of 2 or even 3 (depending) and make the bet. OTH in a shoe that I deem real choppy it can work like a charm.

I tend to think that shoes with a lot of XYXYXY stuff I'm going to see more 2 IAR then a long repeat so I expect to win if it stays chop (opposite - OLD) or get a 2 or 3 repeat.

Rather than wait for a certain number of hands to go by like has been suggested above I see how the shoe develops. If it losses consistency beware. I haven't gotten clipped yet.

Lastly. Not written in stone. Say you not doing so well and make the 1 2 and lose? Just stop - take the loss. Move on.

Good advice. Its true. We have to have some flexibility. Sometimes the trigger that I chose failed to appear and instead of waiting for it to come, I bet on it that it won't come. Works like a charm too.

What version of English are you speaking? Is this the dialect spoken in the Austrailian Canadian neighborhood of Boston near The Town? No doubt you missed the massive going off convo where Alphonse Relax confessed his love for that actor guy who played the LA County Sherriff movie where other sheriff's where robbing banks so I talked about The Town movie.

Back to the point I recently have had good success in testings using a simple two stage 1-3 grand marty. So far it's a proposition that offers up a gross profit of about 1.6 units gros, hey hey.

Guys, I am just new here and would like to make a (small) extra income each month. I looked into baccarat and try to not play progressions. I have researched Oscars Grind and it seem rather ok to me but I am scared that now and then I will pass the max bet of 9 x the initial unit ( which is my stop loss) and not recoup ( if this happens too often).
So I did some math and reasoning. The Banker has a winning chance of 45,58% and the player 44,62%. But in case of a Tie you do not loose anything . So I think I can simply ignore all the ties and just continu as if there was no Tie. IN thaty case the split between Banker and player is 50,68% versus 49,32% And when I look at the outcome of many internet histories (of Bac) clearly the Banker wins more often in the long run than the PLayer. So why can we not simply play flat bet consistently on banker. Every game should result in a small win for the banker so need for progressions. Am I overlooking something? realize that the bank takes 0,5 % of the winnings but even when I deduct this I still end up at 50,68 - 0,5 = 50,18 percent So don't I have an edge then of 0,18%. Not much but any edge should result in profits in the long run.

You may win 50.68% but the Bank takes 5% commission. That lowers your effective side winning to 50.68 x 95% or 48.146% which obviously is less than 49.32% by 1.174% which is close to your house edge.

Let's say 10,000 bets. If you bet player you win 4932 ... house wins 5068 = you lose. If you bet banker you win 5068 minus 253 commission = 4815 ... house wins 4932 = you lose.

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you are saying but I do not care about paying something AFTER I win. The winning chances are still above 50% betting on banker. So in the long run I win units and then I pay the percentage to the bank. IN The Netherland I even need to report gambling winnings and pay approx. 30 % tax to the government (from the momey I win) but that is ok . The first goal is to win.
I am trying this method omn wizard of odds and sofar it seems that I always end up making some units profit. Even after the commission has been taken by the bank.

Another thing I found in the history is that there are more doubles ( or higher) than singles. So I thought that may be it is worthwhile to wait for a change (P or B) and then bet ( flat bet) that the same outcome will come again. This way it should also be possible to make 1 or 2 units profits per 40-50 hands.

I usually play at Unibet online ( I hate real casino's ;-) And there most tables for baccarat have limits of 1 euro - 25000 euro. So with sufficient BR even Martingale can be played a long way. I like to work with Stop Loss A small loss can be absorbed by previous or future small wins but a large loss will never recover.
I am now testing a system where I play B P B B P P and repeat this sequence. So far testing gives very positive results. Even when Martingale is used it seldom goes above 5-6 bets before winning and it overcomes long series of one side. Also tested against real history of the Unibet life tables and I have not seen a loss yet. So I am optimistic. We will see what happens when I test with money on live table.

Maybe but there are better progressions. You might consider Star System. All progressions need a recoup. Star and Marty will both eventually get you pretty deep but with low limit tables Star would be a lot better in my opinion.

Intelligent people do not require a Martingale at all .They are deploying a top notch MM system and are in control at all times .

I actually like 5 step marty for hit and run or deploying it like star on the front end of another system.

The downsides are obvious but you have to deploy a smaller unit on the marty to then recoup at a higher chip value later with like a fibo or labby.

    Hello @Craps

Finally you back to this forum.

What i want to ask you. Your winning target is 8 unit, but thats 8 unit is net after banker commission or not ?

Because if level 5 marty is 16 unit. If we bet banker and win. Only get nett win 0,2 unit.

And one more question, your bet selection for 5 level marty is 100% random ? Or maybe apply some condition.

    Thanks before
