If you are hoping to win because you are lucky you got a problem because a time will come when you just can't win 1-2 hands cuz the patterns aren't working. Then you got to decide to quit loser or recoup with bigger and bigger bets. At that point better decide ahead of time how you're gong to deal with inevitable bad sessions. Otherwise you're liable to fall into an emotional trap, flustered, lose discipline and make unforced errors.

My progression is usually 2-3-6-2-3-6 units... I’ve gone as deep as the second 3, down 16 units before coming back and hitting my stop-win, but I do sometimes use 1-2-3-6-12 then walk in homage to Donnie Millionaire... I still remember watching his roulette-wheel-in-the-garage demo, wishing I had a home roulette wheel... but I digress...

The trick to Baccarat is not bet selection, given the probabilities, IMHO, but having said that I avoid chasing streaks and wait for a BP/PB after a streak before jumping on the next opposite for three successive losses... last-winner but one and sticking to Banker also works for me most of the time, but hit-and-run is the key play style...

In my opinion the only advantage to stop loss and win is psychological. It can help prevents tilting, playing when tired and promote confidence keeping you on your game plan. It has no real statistical value.

Did I mention luck? I don’t believe in luck; I believe in probability, mathematics and the rules of the game.

the stop-loss and win are merely to ensure discipline.

I was quoting Eric above, not you. Eric didn't mention luck either. But he did mention betting certain patterns. So unless there is a way to predict when these patterns occur just betting 1-2 and hit and run is luck, IMO. There's no magic in staying or leaving. Just a matter of hoping to be lucky.

and that happened today....up $700 very quickly on small $25 units and then fell into an emotional trap, flustered, lost disciplined and made unforced errors after a 3 loss in a row session. Tomorrow is a new day.

Bet selections matter, and the best strikes rate yer ever gonna get at the baccarats table is to run straight bet bankers only. Any other style gonna give you an inferior return. And stop win/loss points are for recreation player and losing player playin scared. If ya got a wining style then the more you play the more yer gonna win, but that's if you have a winning style, hey hey.

Sorry, my mistake, although patterns are just like any other betting trigger, and they stop people (me included) chasing the rabbit down the rabbit hole.

True, but it’s only true on average, long term: we’ve all seen shoes and nights that don’t prescribe to the probabilities...

Have we? If that's so you are essentially making the case that the outcomes are not random.

Well a shrewd cat looking to grind a living from the baccarats is only gonna be concern with the long run just like the poker pro and black jacks cards counter, hey hey.

I’m not sure I follow your comment... the very fact that outcomes are random events means that in the short term, like in one 6 deck shoe for example, it can be just as probable that a steak appears in the short term as well as B and P winning roughly even in the long term across infinite shoes... ever bet on Banker after a run of three or more Players and lose? Yeah, me too... bet selection is only half the battle and has a probability of getting it wrong more than getting it right hand-by-hand without prior knowledge of the cards before you bet... the casino likes it that way.
