The Vegas casinos really are gearing up to re-open. Yes I am starting to receive the Welcome Back emails but besides that is what is going on behind the scenes....

I monitor my personal and casino credit closely. I get a free copy of my casino credit usually about once a year, although sometimes not as often since not much changes in there.

I had been waiting for a new copy for a couple of months, and then today I got the call from the bureau that casino credit had opened, they had updated my profile, and would send me out a new report.

Those who click to the D Las Vegas site will be connected with a D Las Vegas concierge who will complete the flight booking. Obviously, casino owner Derek Stevens prefers those who enter the campaign to stay at the D or Golden Gate. But tourists may also book the flight and stay at another Vegas hotel. The offer does not extend to Stevens’ under-construction Circa, scheduled to open in December.

Looks like some people are willing to go to Vegas....

Isn't Richard Wilk the head casino marketing guy at The D? They actually have some high end players?

    Got an offer like this
    Screen Shot 2020-06-04 at 7.40.44 PM.jpg
which is basically show up by end of June, get a $1000. gift card.

It's not much of an offer considering my level of play, but it is something.

I found it interesting that most of the Vegas casinos opened at 12:01am right when they could. Riots or no riots opening in the middle of the night?

But Wynn/Encore opened this morning, in the daylight. Seems more prudent.

I am sure they are all hoping for some good action to make up for two and a half months of dead losses, but it seems to me that with increased overhead and less players they might end up losing money for some time anyway.

Yes very interesting, have you been recently? I think the dynamics will be quite interesting. Will the degenerate AP’s revel in the use of face masks? I mean it must be more comfortable than wearing the paper bag as a disguise and definitely less life threatening than the plastic bag they wear in the private sessions in the alleyway.

Interesting that you get a free one way air ticket, I heard that axil wiff used all his fake players cards and booked a whole flight to himself only to be told that he had to keep lining up in all the different disguises to check in, he had such a problem in one of the dresses he/she/it had a wardrobe malfunctions and missed his/her/it’s flight. I understand it was a boner caused by the thought he/she/it was getting something for free and somehow it qualified as a positive ap move. Haaaaaahaaaa the fool.

Did you get any offers of merit? I know you are a high profile player so I was wondering what is the range of inducements on offer. I assume USA is the first to open casinos so it will be a benchmark for the rest of the world in regards to policies of crowd control, access to table games and the staffing level, not forgetting the profitability of course. I should think that over the next week or so there will be a number of changes ( daily?) to see what is the best fit for the casino and patrons.

Here in Aussie town we are not so showered in comps as you appear to get in USA so that side doesn’t necessarily create a problem here. But there in USA I wonder if they (casino) will continue to be extravagant compared to Aussie ville or if they tone it down as a cost cutting measure. Or is it a case of people are in such a rush to gamble that just opening the door is enough.

As per your previous post interesting to see what the new normal will be . If you go, take care and good luck.
    Cheers

Funnee! about Axel. Yes I have heard three stories about him, (1) that he met a member of one of these forums and showed up drunken and passed out in the guy's car when he had to drive Axel home, (2) home to his little condo in North Vegas is where they say he lives according to some posts online, (3) yes I have heard the cross dressing stories about Axel too.

Vegas - no. We haven't been back to Vegas since March.

We were in Palm Desert on business, and while in the area I stepped into Morongo which is one of the larger and nicer Indian casinos in southern Cal, although nothing to compare with anything good in Vegas. I went in alone for a commando photo raid – she waited in the car with the A/C running – this was more my thing than hers, she doesn’t really even like casinos, other than mostly for the spas and fitness facilities.
    Morongo.JPG
Clearly they were expecting, or had experienced, a line to enter, but on this Thursday afternoon, no wait to get in at all.
    Morongo_line.JPG
There is a Covid-19 warning on the way in,
    CovidWarning_entrance.jpg
advising that the pool, spa and buffet are closed, and that you must keep your mask on,

and social distancing markers, each one six feet apart, on the ground.

    SocialDistancing_line.jpg
    This is the entrance area

    EntranceExit.jpg
and the lady in blue with black pants facing the door asks you to remove your mask, which I thought was for some kind of temperature check, but turns out is for, unless I am mistaken completely, a digital camera picture. I do not know what they were looking for with that one, but after she took my picture she said simply, “You’re good” and waved me in. The deputy sheriff stands guard next to her.

Inside some of the slots are “socially distanced” with plexiglass barriers,
    Slots_plexiglass2.JPG
    Plexiglass_betweenslots.JPG
others create separations by being turned off, every other machine,
    Slots_onOff.JPG
still others seem to offer no social distancing measures at all, and are all turned on in a row, same as always.

The tables games utilized no plexiglass, but had three per table seating only, to keep people apart.

There were more than a few completely empty table game sections.

I did notice a few people with clear plastic cups drinking some beverage or other. I didn't stay long enough to figure out whether these were self serve.

According to the sign by the entrance, smoking is allowed and you may remove your mask to smoke, but I did not observe anyone smoking.

The restaurants – not all were open – had tables moved pretty far apart.
    Restaurant_spacing.JPG
    Restaurant_spacing2.JPG
There are sanitizers around, including this one on the way out.
    Sanitize_wayOut.jpg
    And the exit –
    EntranceExit.jpg
courthouse, airport terminal, or amusement park style, is an exit only – no reentry. Hmm, so is that what the camera was for? that once your pic is taken you’re not allowed back in for a while? That doesn’t really make a lot of sense, but I didn’t stay long enough to find out.

This might be something like what is going on in Vegas right now - but, no we have not visited Vegas again yet.

Over all, other than the check on the way in, a touch of plexiglass here and there and the distantly spaced restaurant tables, you might not even have noticed the three per table game only spacing - besides the MASKS, it might have just passed for an uncrowded afternoon at any casino.

Again - this was Morongo, an Indian casino in southern California, in the Palm Desert, CA area. I do not play Indian casinos, but visited this one for a few minutes since we were in the area, just to see how they are coping, post-coronavirus lockdown.

Great post thanks, guess you can’t stop the degenerate slots playing an -ev game no matter the odds guess they figure they haven’t jagged the jackpot so they’re not going to get Coronavirus must be the same odds right?

Amazing that people are playing, is it boredom or addiction? The smoking statement is crazy a) that still happens indoors? ( here illegal ), b) why wear a mask if you can smoke?
The exit sign maybe means you can’t come back in through that door but have to go around to main entrance for the medical checkups re limited staffing, policing, etc.
Once again thanks take care. Cheers

I read somewhere that someone who started playing in Vegas Thursday was complaining that the video poker machine odds have been reduced.

Others are claiming, anecdotally, that slot machine payoffs seem to be greater, both in Vegas and at Indian casinos. The theory of these guys who claim that they are winning more these past few days on slots is that casinos want people to come back and if people walk in the door risking their lives to coronavirus AND lose immediately, they will never come back.

I don't play machines in any case - strictly for squares and BORING in my book.

Psychologically speaking, there are two types of gamblers.

One - like to zone out, they reach some kind of "high" while pushing slots and other gaming machine buttons.

The others - like me - prefer the rise and fall of the thrill - rising tension as the bet is placed, cards are dealt, and then tension released as hand results are revealed.

There are degenerates in both camps who don't really even care if they win or lose - just about the play. A prime example would be Allan Erlick the Canadian former mattress millionaire (more recently a broke Uber driver - now I assume an unemployed due to coronavirus broke Uber driver). In 2007, while he was still printing money in Canada, Allan would hit a big Vegas slots jackpot, turn to look at Louis Theoroux,

"See?" Allan would say, his face so blank it wasn't even there, as expressionless as the countless times he'd spin and lose.

Treasure Island Vegas suing insurance carrier over coronavirus related losses

    https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local...company-for-denying-covid-19-pandemic-losses/

T.I.'s policy was from March 2019 - March 2020, and they filed the claim, which was denied, the day before the policy expired. Losses claimed were $850 million in property damage and $327 million in business due to coronavirus.

Claim was denied, and T.I. is going to court over it. It's actually nice to see a heavy taking on an insurance company for failing to pay a claim, but given that T.I. closed on March 18th, is this $1.1B just for the losses for those 14 days they were closed in March 2020, before the policy lapsed?

I'd assume that T.I. bound another policy for the next one year period, so why not a larger claim for the period April 1 - June 4, 2020, that they were closed, with whatever carrier they could find for that more recent period - unless, maybe no one would bind them while they were closed, or anyone who did bind them for that period excluded up front any coronavirus closure related loss claims?

Thoughts on Inside the Edge…and that’s why I would never want to make a living at gambling. What a grind! Unlike KC, I never had to move beyond the invited guest / high roller stage because I never needed the money, it was and continues to be just a game to me, where I have to win, but don’t need to.

By the way, while KC was thinking that it was variance that was killing him during the winter, when his bankroll went from 650 to 300K, I think it was more that he got tired…the cold winter’s drag of the mid-west and back east got to him…he wasn’t playing at his best…and then as soon as he hit Florida and the Bahamas, back on track. Mere coincidence? that he started winning again in the warmer nicer locales, or was it that they wore him down for a period? in the cold.

In any case, variance, cold or not playing at his best, just shows how big wins (or losses) might happen at any time. I don’t necessarily agree with his altering basic strategy to the point of doubling a hard nine against a dealer ten face up just because the count is plus 3. Seeing the hole card or having the dealer TELL me his hole card, yes I've experienced that, in a scenario like that, sure, I've altered basic strategy greatly.

So he won $450K busting his ass for a year. Back when I played much harder, I have won almost that in just one trip having a great time as an invited guest fully comp’ed and been invited back. Whatever he is doing is not a sustainable game plan, and I think he realizes it, otherwise why show all his different faces on a nationally broadcast movie.

I’ll stick with what works, and hiding just to play at a casino is not something I’d ever want to do. I have a thousand other ways to make a lot more money in the real world, so to keep ‘em happy, I’ll keep switching up between black jack and Baccarat, and winning at both. Always keep the casinos guessing.

I played some craps when I first started gambling, and had more than a few huge wins.

It's a long story that's worthy of its own chapter in a book, but sometimes when I walk by a craps table I remember one of the first nights I bet big, I put three thousand on the line with max odds behind on a point of nine, and this REALLY cute redhead who kept rolling and rolling hit it and I had some idea that I had won a lot, but not even really knowing exactly how much, and when I found out that I had just won twelve thousand dollars I slammed my fist on the edge of the table so hard my chips in the rack went flying up in the air slow motion style straight out of Sharon Stone's epic first scene in Casino. Between this girl and others at the table including my own rolls I walked with over thirty grand.

But then I also think of the few times I was leaning against the table looking down at my last few thousand left on my $20K line, which is what my lines were in those days, and tipping out quarters to the cocktail waitress because I figured that way at least someone would end up with something. And those losing memories are why I quit craps play within a year of starting it. I think the big wins ended up cancelling out the losses, but I just never managed to win consistently at that game versus my experience with other table games.

Still, when I think of that night with the redhead my heart gets tugged back into the game at least until my head starts reasoning me back to reality.

Last night I had a dream about craps. I was at a table at the Golden Nugget Vegas, which I haven't played there in many years, and was winning big, amassing different colors of high denomination chips, that kept stacking higher and higher. It was definitely a good experience. Not quite as good as the reality of that night of the big win with the redhead, but nice nonetheless.

Thanks for post here in skippy town only 3 people per table, no back betting, but they try to piggyback your bet , people running to just vacated chairs pushing old people aside. No chip protocols in place , lots of Lebanese rather than asians . Plenty of undercover police, lots of cues to get in , degenerate gamblers at the max just like junkies that have missed their fix, as told to me by a friend that dropped in for a look last Saturday night. I will wait awhile before I go back. Cheers

Friend just got back from Vegas. No real details yet, but he won some money (at midi-Baccarat) and had a good time, avoided coronavirus infection. Masks and plexiglass at the midi-Bacc. tables he played.
