Ok, you been playing HE 15 years, a winning above average player & you decided to try OMAHA! Be prepared to lose a bundle if any experienced OMAHA players are at the table...and there will be...they are waiting for you.

The reason is that most HE players usually bring their "hold 'em brain" to an Omaha game!

You ask yourself what's the big deal I know how to play poker I'm only getting two extra cards!

There is big difference! You will need to learn the major errors HE players make & don't make them.
    FEW EXAMPLES!

    1. Play a starting hand with a "dangler".
    2. What determines a "good" starting hand!
    3. Understanding Omaha is a drawing game after the flop!
    4. Can quickly count the outs & math based on your draw!
    4. Only drawto the "nuts".
    5. Knowing what draw would be the "nuts"!

Below is an interesting example of a major difference (HE vs OMAHA)
regarding being favorite with premium starting hands in OMAHA!

    1. Best HE starting hand = AA
    Odds 200-1

    2. Best starting hand OMAHA
    AAKKds (Double Suited).
    Odds 50,000-1

    3. Best vs 2nd Best starting hands HE: AA vs KK: AA is big favorite: 80% 4-1

    BUT....
    4. AAKKds vs
    8-7-6-5ds
    (hand not in top 30),
    AAKKds is only
    1.5-1 favorite!

How's that for a "starter" regarding the difference between these two games?

    1. Play a starting hand with a "dangler".
    a. 3 related cards to str8s & flushes or pairs leaves you with a 25% deficit starting the hand.
    b. Think about having a re-draw after you see the board cards.
    c. With 4 cards working, you can have more chances for the outs (improvement) for redraw. You may flop the apparent nuts with out a redraw and drawing dead to chop the pot. You aren't a favorite to win any money without the redraw.
    d. Be careful playing small pairs to flop a set. If you face action & your opponent is likely to be playing big cards & big pairs; you outs maybe blanks to the board. Top 2-pair always makes a bigger f/h when they pair over the small set.

    2. What determines a "good" starting hand!

    a. 4-card Hands that can make with redraws
    b. Hands with connectors, suits & pairs on the higher side (re-draws). Flopping a set (or top 2 pair) with str8 & flush draws is much more playable than two pair or small sets with nothing else going for you.

    3. Understanding Omaha is a drawing game after the flop!
    a. Flopping a good hand is only the beginning. Before you start putting a lot of action in the pot, what is your evaluation of opponents likely draws versus you potential improvement. Do you have some of his outs covered.
    b. If you tend to go on tilt playing H.E when you face the draw outs; you might want to conker that demon before you play much on the Omaha variant. You are always drawing in omaha unless you have the mortal nuts (str8-flush top-end)

    4. Basics of Omaha games: You must always play two cards from you hand & 3 cards from the board. I love playing Omaha with new players because this is the one rule they trip-up from until they lose a stack mis-reading that one card to a str8, flush or f/h
