    Seldom enough players to get these games going, however on this night we were able and I wanted to share this hand for your thoughts. Any changes you would advise to make more money than I did?

    5/10 Limit Stud Hi game at Hollywood Casino, Perryville, Maryland. Dollar ante, and I have pocket 8’s with a 6 on top (I’m the bring in - $3).

    :8s::8c::6d:

    Bet is completed for $5, so $2 for me, I call.

    I’m in seat 1 and catch a 6 on fourth street and double bet to $10, several callers and A5d raises and I call as well as the others.

    :6c:

    5th street is an “8”of diamonds and I bet $10, two callers, diamond Jim catches third diamond on board and makes it $20, I only call keeping others in hand.

    :8d:

    6th street is a blank for me and I still bet $10, two callers and Diamond Jim makes it $20, and I go to $30, one caller, Jim caps it at $40, I call, one caller.

    7th street is a down card and I don’t even look. I bet $10 and one fold, Jim makes it $20, I make it $30 and he calls.

    Jim has the Ace high diamond flush, a 4 card straight flush (still a flush).

    I turn over my pocket 8’s for the boat and flip the 7th card, the case “8” for quads.

    I'm not sure how good it is to put in a lot of action with two low pairs on 4th street. Obviously your 8s were live, so it could be fine. Most of the time, though, you are tying yourself to a pot where you have up to 4 outs to make better than a mediocre hand. If a single 6 were dead, look for cheap draws even if you probably have the best made hand.

    You seem to have gotten the maximum possible in on 6th and 7th. The only question is whether it was right to bet/call on 5th. It looks ok, though I'm not convinced you couldn't keep people in even if you 3-bet. They might assume you have trips and they still want to see if their straights or flushes or boats will come in.

    I think it's relevant who the completer was and their position. If it was the Ad that completed, then I might prefer to check 4th planning to check/raise them and confront the other players with having to call $20 cold... we should be able to fold out hands like TTxx with this action, while leading will never fold them out since they'll call 1 double bet, then call 1 more if raised. As played I almost prefer to 3b 4th for the same reason... although I agree with Douglas about tying ourselves to a pot where we have 4 outs to improve beyond our mediocre hand. But I feel like the ace is going to double bet here virtually all the time if they were the one who completed 3rd... their most likely holdings are split aces or 3 diamonds on 3rd, so catching another diamonds they will bet either way, allowing us to check-raise. We're 55% against naked aces, and 55% against a 4 flush, so there's some tangible value in eliminating other players at this point imo since our hand has such a poor chance to improve.

    I like the way you played it. I get more callers than most people, I think this is more true of women players, so I'd probably raise on 5th street. I tend to be hyper-garressive at a limit game, and they all call me anyway, so it maximizes my income when I hit the FH.
