I could be completely off-base here but I have noticed over the decades (yikes) -
When people start out working on methods or just playing at the table - they start with the even money bets.
You'll see systems based on Low, Red, Odd, High, etc then combinations L/E/R - whatever..
Then they evolve (after not finding the answer there) to the 2:1 bets -
the dozens and columns - 1 1 2 3 2 3 3 looking for patterns or how to bet on some idea that
looking at past spins can produce some magical formula - or that a pattern can be exploited if you just look hard
enough. (Turbo's 4 spin sequence method - and others). How to bet in such a way that there is some benefit.
Then they evolve (after not finding the answer there) to the higher payoff / less chance of winning bets -
the streets - the corners.... eventually even to splits...
This can even get complex where you can start on 1:1 bets, lose and move to 2:1 - then to 5:1 (lines), 11:1
etc etc.... I had fun with those kinds of methods and wrote a few.
Then eventually - finally, you come to players who bet straight ups - more complexity - greater win amounts with less
    chance of winning.....
The "math" is the same, but you can certainly twist it into more directions playing the inside.
I'm confident that I'll never move backwards - finding everything I need to win on the inside bets only.
Deeper minds can even see that if your method predicts that #20 will show up - you play black 1:1 bet.
Why ? Because if you want to use a progression - and the table minimum is $10.00... you can bet below the min.
on #20 by playing $10.00 on black. (grab a calculator - you'll see how #20 can be played by betting black at a much much smaller unit than the table minimum would allow you.
But anyway - just a thought that popped into my head today.. the evolution of players and system junkies (like myself).
Perhaps the next step in the evolution is advantage play - but like I said before - playing the straight ups as I do will
result in my playing the same numbers as the AP people, only I'm using a mechanical method. There can be compromise
that both can work equally well I think.
    Cheers.
    Just my 2-cents

Wow Sparky....you been watching me bet these past 6 months!! Described my journey so far but currently on systems. I'm doing quite well with the 4 Furthest Back method but just had a scare when it took 43 spins for one of my 4 numbers to turn up!! Whew!
