I'm stating the obvious, but we may be in for a historic treat. I've been doing this (professionally) for 35 years, and this looks to be the strongest collection of teams in one league I have ever seen. Even the likely wild card teams (NY or St. Louis) are probably better than the best AL team.

In terms of obvious wagering protocols, this means you need at least three times the to-win-AL odds to take a team to win the WS. If you do not get that, you need to take AL teams just to win the AL.

I'm a litle bit excited. The NL playoffs may really be something. The pressure on the Cubs will be enormous. The money on the Cubs will be staggering.

I agree but it way too soon to make predictions because once we get to august, and the taxation on the body of 4 months of play starts to take its toll...we will see who is in position.
Also in July there ill be trades.

Imagie if arrietta on the cubs breaks down. or pulls a hammy and is out for a month

Right now I agree...the Cubs are hands down the best on paper as far as being strong in all categories.

But if the giants can survive till august and get healthy...and also make a trade for a bat .....get pence back and romo.. they will be just as strong as the cubs assuming the cubs stand pat

It will be interesting for sure

Agreed. Giants are red hot. Nationals are very, very good. These teams are all well managed also.

giants are red hot but are also so injured that they have the capability of losing 8 out of 10 in a stretch as well.
The cubs are healthy and deep.

An AL team will emerge after following an easier path.
The NL teams may exhaust each other. The WS schedule will help, but I don't think the best team will necessarily win.

Is there a league vs league bet out there like the generic AFC vs NFC wager? If so what are the odds and what do you see as the correct odds based on your NL is better thoughts?

That's an excellent question, Boz. I have looked for it and haven't found it. You can bet (sucker bets, for the most part) particular WS matchups, but no NL versus AL.

By the way, the fact I'm saying huge amounts of money are and will be on the Cubs doesn't mean I endorse them. The Cubs take a disproportionate amount of futures money almost every year, even when they aren't any good.

When did the Vegas pre-season favorite last win the Series?
