    Hi Folks,

Continuing with our quest to encourage more gambling-related discussions, we are changing how we calculate our members' Post Counts by no longer taking into account posts in non-gambling related sections.

As a result, posts in the Lounge, Off-topic Graveyard, Insults Graveyard, Feedback, and Reported Posts sections no longer count towards a member's post count. (Regarding Reported Posts, when a member reports a post, a new post under their name with the details of the report are automatically created in an Admin-only section and up until now those auto-created posts were adding to members' post counts.)

Although imperfect, this will provide a much more accurate measure of how involved a member has been in gambling-related discussions, which is what our community is all about.

Since some Forum privileges are based on post count, this will also ensure that members who join and, for example, spend 100% of their time in the Lounge discussing recipes and 0% of their time discussing gambling-related matters, won't unlock the privileges. (Those who have already unlocked any privileges aren't affected by this change.)

Post Counts will have to be manually updated regularly by us to take the above into account because posts that have been moved from a section that counts to a section that doesn't won't actually change the post count until we do the manual update. So keep that in mind if you see your future post counts dipping slightly at any time. It just means we ran a recount and excluded posts moved to the sections we no longer take into account for post counts.

So, to clarify, now it's mainly the gambling-related posts that appear under "New Posts", it's mainly the gambling-related posts that count towards our $5,000 Giveaway, and it's mainly the gambling-related posts that count towards a members' Post Count. This will hopefully continue to encourage more gambling-related discussions here at GamblingForums.com.

If you have any questions, concerns, or any other feedback regarding this change, please let us know in this thread.

Are you arguing that this change will have no effect on increasing the number of gambling-related posts, or are you just cherry-picking one old post and arguing it will only serve to increase potential spam? Instead of privately saving a list of posts that are spammy or off-topic, you should be reporting them so we can clean them up. What you should not be doing is keeping these posts to yourself as potential ammunition, and then only revealing them to us when it suits your cherry-picking purposes. That post from Micki2016 is from last year and is off-topic and should have been reported a while ago. We just moved it as it has nothing to do with the topic of the thread it was in.

It's the capital of Armenia. No, we did not need to Google it.

I think my message count has been reduced, though I'm not absolutely sure.
Have you deleted any of my posts? Is it because of this new rule?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why anyone would care if their message counts went up or down.

Perhaps if you wanted to unlock PM features I guess, but other than that I dont get it.

I like to look at it this way -
Larry has 1,851 posts with 242 "likes"
That means 1 like for every 7.65 posts.
    I have 945 posts with 205 "likes"
That means 1 like for every 4.6 posts - basically twice the amount.
So readers have "quantity" = post count
or they have "quality" = relevant posts that people "like" and are informative.
Then again I'm too competitive to be in second place also lol.

RG loves it that certain people no longer post at RF. His post total has really exploded. He is a good example, TONS of posts but very little knowledge, oh well.

So Larry has 1,851 posts now and RARELY posts outside of that section. So I'm lost again, if admin was to delete those post totals (just like Rona above).....you mean he has 1,851 posts in the GAMBLING sections? wow

Supposedly the Misc. gambling section are considered gambling posts.
Where I might add - the highest viewed topics are :

"WizardOfVegas Forum is Dying" irrelevant to gambling or this forum.
    "Gambling Trivia Thread" and
    "Gambling Problem?"

Combined views of 164,833 views and 6,459 posts - that's where some people
hang out and boost their post count. WOV is dying..... ok.... and now - back
    to gambling and THIS forum.
Topics about other forums that don't concern actual gambling "are" off-topic.
But I'm not the boss lol.

I guess it can be tricky...a gambling section but not a gambling related post. (lol) No biggie, whatever.

To be fair, WizardOfVegas is a gambling forum. If the topic of that thread were "DiscussCooking Forum is Dying", then the thread would have been moved to the Lounge.

The Miscellaneous Gambling Forum is for any gambling-related topic that doesn't fit into any of our existing Forums.

The Lounge is for threads that aren't related to Gambling.

I don't see the point of putting any credibility into discussing another forum on this one.
They won't discuss it there obviously, it's not related to this place in any way - but their posts
count as a contribution to this forum.
But it is what it is. It's a popular thread for whatever reason.

What if all of the topics were about baking cakes shaped like slot machines or roulette wheels ?
Just kidding, that wouldn't be gambling related - lol. Great, now I want to make one of those.
