    I understand pot odds quite well, however in the past if i'm in the small blind or big blind etc; i'd sometimes find myself folding hands like 52o or 83o even though I was getting 4/1 pot odds etc;

    So if you're in the big blind or small blind and you have to put 0.02 into a 0.10 pot, you're getting 4/1 on your money, so calling here would be good right? considering you're getting good odds to call?

    You are missing an important aspect of "Pot Odds"! Many are weak on this aspect. The fact the the current pot is offering you 4-1 odds is just the starting point for your decision to call. Pot odds is quite simple that most all players can handle: FLOP: pot $60, wager to call is $20
    Total pot $80. Costing you $20 to win $80 20/80 = 4-1 "pot odds"
    What you know need to know are the all important "Card Odds" to hit your drawing hand. You have Open Straight draw, what are odds you will hit? If you can't come up with that number quickly you can't make the correct poker math decision to call that $20!
    The only thing you know is the pot is offering you 4-1!
    Learn how to determine all card drawing hands then make your decision. If card odds to make hand is 2-1 & you're getting 4-1 pot odds your opponent has given you a gift! If pot odds are more than your card drawing odds=easy profitable call.
    If pot odds are 3-1 & your drawing card odds are 10-1=losing $$$...even if you win that pot you will 100% lose $$$ in the long run if you make those bad calls.

    Here are few common drawing hand odds for 1 card to come, turn or river!

    (1 card to come Turn Or River)
    Flush: 4-1
    Open Straight 5-1
    Inside Straight 10-1
    2 Over Cards 7-1
    Hit 1 of unpaired cards on turn 8-1

    My students must memorize these card odds, then they don't have to do the card odds math at the table, they only need to determine the "pot odds".

    Hope this helps!
