Video Poker Winning Streak Poker Machine

Has Glitches. Find them. There are two glitches but they might be fixed by the time this gets published, since I got ripped by the machine and stupidly complained. I discovered the good glitch AFTER I complained but before the guy could re-visit the bank (he had to do something else). I wish I'd found the good one, first, I'd have kept my mouth shut.

 

In Nevada it's a felony to knowingly take advantage of a game malfunction. You have now made it public that you know about it.

 

But I also told the attendant AND his supervisor about it. What I published was that it has glitches. They may exist in other machines, elsewhere.
I knew playing it knowing it was faulty was problematic, and all 3 of us looked at the issue.

 

If it's a characteristic of the machine's design then that's a different matter. Back when all the machines were coin droppers, I encountered two malfunctioning machines that gave a huge player advantage. One was a bouncing contact in the coin receiving mechanism such that it would count a coin as two coins about once per four coins inserted. The other was in the coin payout mechanism not counting every coin paid out, thus paying out too many coins. Knowingly taking advantage of such a malfunction would be more than "problematic."

 

Knowingly being the operative, with burden of proof.

 

If someone sat for a long time at a machine that was paying out too many coins, and repeatedly cashing out small amounts instead of just playing credits, and it was noticed by a suit, then they would probably have a camera pointed on him to establish intent. But such malfunctions are not possible with TITO technology, so it's now a moot point (unless there are little casinos somewhere that still use coin machines).

 

I ran in to a glitchy machine at Ellis Island a few months ago. Scared me when in the middle of the hand it went to the game selection menu. I was able to cash-out then I got an attendant who came over to the machine, opened the top cover then and slammed it down really hard a few times. OK, I was a tech in the Navy and understand the "give it a good whack" technique of fixing things, though I just never thought I see it in a casino.

The thing I hate the most is when one of the VP buttons is acting goofy. I ran in to one machine where one of the hold buttons would 'unhold' your card. I think it was a broken button, it did not work like the rest of the buttons. However, you know you only find that out when you play your first few hands if the buttons are working fine, and if the machine itself is OK or funky.
