It's certainly possible. I hit four in one day on single line once in my 30 year career. I also hit three in one day twice.

Keep in mind I mostly played two machines at ludicrous speed and I often played the entire 24 hours in the day. I believe my hands got out record for one single day was 46,000 hands. Even on days when I only played eight-hours I often got 20,000 hands out. Naturally, it depended on the machine type.

But keep this in mind, if I could do it in 30 years at my speed then for every 120 normal speed players out there it'll happen once a year.

    So not actually that implausible.

He could also be taking about multi-line, in which case not that impressive.

So here's the funny story. On the day I hit my four Royals at a convenience store across the street from the HardRock Hotel in Vegas it was on the one of the biggest f-ups I've ever found. And there's an ironic twist to the story.

This little store put in a three meter progressive on their Double Double Bonus Poker Machines. Some customer complained that he wanted to play Double Bonus Poker with the progressive, so they sent out a slot tech and obliged him. However, they extended the progressive JP for the RF, SF, and 4-Aces to ALL THE JACKS OR BETTER GAMES including the 8/5 Bonus Poker.

    But wait that's not all.

The RF reset to $1500 instead of $1000 and the meter-rise was 1% on each meter. So were talking good old regular 8/5 JoB with $200 minimum on the Aces and rapidly rising SF and RF. Straight up win even if all the meters were reset.

However, when I found it I had been on sick leave for two years due to bout with cancer and had no BR whatsoever, so I made a deal with my old partner to back me. It was an odd deal, very fair, but odd. I got whatever the meters were above their resets and he got the reset meter results. So if I hit Aces for $300 I got $100 and he got the $200, and all the action was his so I could play without any risk.

Now do you start to see why this was ironically funny?

On the day I hit four Royals I got paid $550 for the first one, $2 for the second one, $8 for the third one and .46c for the fourth one. I did round up to $1. Meanwhile, he made a clean $5800 profit.

    True story.

    P.S. Don't tell him I stole .54 cents

Whoops, I left out the best part of that story. It's been 14 years, but the horror is coming back to me now.

I was NOT playing to hit the Royal, I was playing for a really high set of 4-Aces which was nearly $500, but somebody else hit that as both my machine were locked up with RF's on them for almost the entire day.

Convenience stores take an hour or more to pay you on taxable JP's. Oh woe is me...:(

I once hit 3 royals in 4 hours where the royal odds were 45,000. It happened at the Pioneer Laughlin and I was playing unlinked 8/5 Flush Attack. That was about the year 2000.

I know that the royals flush is the relative rare event so I thought that bagging four in a single day seem unlikely, hey hey.

Sure it's rare, but it's not impossible. In fact with all the players out there it's practically guaranteed. And the chance of someone that did get 4 in a day bragging is even more likely.

FYI: The paradox of something being unlikely and yet common at the same time is called stochasticity. Here's a link to a cool show about it: https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/episodes/91684-stochasticity

You want to talk about improbable things. I personally saw my best friend Gary Ford hit Eight sets of 4-8's natural, no wild cards on Joker Poker in 12 hands.

Not JUST eight Four of A Kinds, EIGHT OF THE SAME 4K NO joker...in 12 hands.

The only thing even approaching that level of improbability that I ever witnessed personally is the same hand getting dealt on two adjacent machines with the cards in the same exact order and suit. It was a non-paying hand, "2c 4d 6s 8c 10d" but still. There are 311 million permutations to dealing 5 cards out of a 52 card deck.

The only reason I even noticed it is because it was a redraw on a game that had very few redraws. I mentioned it to my partner and he paused his play and said, "Huh I have the exact same hand on my screen right now!"

    It's only the wrong play by a very small percentage. And yes, it's only same 16,214 to 1 (1in 16,215) to hit a royal holding a suited A/10, A/J, A/Q or A/K.

    I agree it's likely legit.

In 2017 I hit 3 royals along with four A's w/kicker, all on $2, at the Silverado Bar in South Point--in a total of an hour and 45 minutes. I have not received an invite since.

Hi Frank, glad you're doing well.

As to whether it was legit, I can only speak from my own limited experience. I hit three royals on single line in a very short span of time, and it's a funny story, funny-bad actually.

I was sitting in the Palms, waiting for the sports book to open, at the old bank of progressive deuces wild 25-centers, which Frank undoubtedly remembers. There was some promo, if you played x number of hands with your card in, you got free breakfast or something like that. So I was killing time and playing quarter at a time. Well, you know what happens. Boom, after a couple hundred hands. Playing one coin. LOL. The woman sitting next to me looks and says," I wouldn't even want to hit that." Well, the sports book still isn't open, so I think that's okay and I just keep playing but this time with max coins. Less than 10 minutes later, Boom, I hit it again, this time for a thousand and change because it's a progressive. So I cash out and the sports book opens. Well, later that day, I'm putting my football contest picks in at Palace Station, and they have that Jumbo Jackpot where, if your card is inserted when someone hits, you get $50. It's about to hit, so I sit down and -- you guessed it -- play one coin at a real slow pace. Maybe 300 hands later, Boom, I hit it again. With one coin in.

Pretty funny. Here's the thing. I am literally betting thousands of dollars on football games, so it would not have killed me to play full coin in. But since the two promos had nothing to do with max coin in, I didn't see the point.

I hit those three royals in maybe 700 hands, which seems impossible on single line. But it happened. So I can believe someone hitting four in a day.

Yes I remember that bank very well. In fact it's where I officially clocked my fastest hand speed of all time. I paid one of my old players to watch me play for errors and managed to maintain 2680 an hour for eight hours with roughly 1 mistake an hour. I would never be able to play that fast now with only my one eye. Those were the days.

So my funny tale which I think is technically more annoying is when I hit 3 large progressive Royals $2500 - $3500 range in one day and got paid zilch. I was playing for Tom on the Frontier 3-Meter for a very high Straight Flush which was over $4800. The deal I had at the time was hourly + bonus for JP. Since the RF wasn't the JP we were playing for, it incurred no bonus. I got flat hourly for my efforts. I think one of the power couple teams John and Liz hit that one. What a monster meter.

If memory serves the SF went up from $263.46 (deliberately obfuscated reset) at a rate of 4.75 Cents PER HAND played with 6 quarters. These were of course "dead-coin" machines so you only got paid on 5-coins and the sixth coin went almost entirely on the three-meters. Still that's like 92,000 hands with no one getting a Straight Flush. What a runner.

It's worth noting that you'd expect to get roughly 3 Royals in 92,000 hands.

Going after the Four of a Kinds is no sweat. Better than any EC like roulette or Baccarat .

Video poker is a game of strategy .
