To read the criticism posted here about WoV and MS, one might think nothing good has ever come from either or those sources: not so!

I respect and appreciate the actions MS took when he sued the Nevada Gaming Board in late 2012 seeking disclosure of the slot payback percentage from Nevada casinos.

    see: http://wizardofodds.com/pdf/foia/opp-to-motion-to-dismiss.pdf

While his Petition for Mandamus was denied, at least he tried; had he prevailed, public disclosure of the info would have benefited all slot players.

Got to wonder whether his action in filing a lawsuit seeking disclosure was somehow related to his short term employment at the Sands: he was hired on April 30th and let go on Sept 10th.

He blogged about it on Sept 14th.

The lawsuit / petition was filed two months later:

    see: https://www.clarkcountycourts.us/Anonymous/CaseDetail.aspx?CaseID=10796288

Interesting coincidence about the timing, if nothing else.

Whatever, I believe 'twas a valiant effort and worthy of recognition as such.

The blog is from 2012. I just read it. So a company with casinos all over the world, a company with $14.5 billion in revenue in 2014 is so mis-managed, so incompetent that they suddenly don't need the job they hired him for. In 4 short months so much changed and none of their experts saw it coming. Hard to believe. Then he says they would re hire him. Right.

Couldn't be anything he did....the man with so many proclivities. Nah.

He said he would explain it later. Well, it's later...4 years later. Everyone is waiting.

maybe the same reason the head of the canyoneering expedition did what she did,

you know..the reverse invitation. Maybe he got the same reverse invitation from the employer....for the same reason

Oh I see.....you are getting uneasy that you may not be on the good side of the manboy and beached whale......after calling their people out for being munchkins who need a male figure to lead them, Jackals, and Koolaide drinkers.

    I get it.

    self preservation

    nice

After calling his tin cup scenario"unmanly"....its nice to have a "make good"

we all do what we need to do if acceptance to wov is important.

Even it it means suggesting that people voice their opinion and boycott the site. while you watch...that was funny.

kind of reminds me of a scene in Pirates of Penzance

    Sung by Mr V

Go, ye heroes, go to glory,
Though you die in combat gory,
Ye shall live in song and story.
    Go to immortality!
    Go to death, and go to slaughter;
    Die, and every Cornish daughter
With her tears your grave shall water.
Go, ye heroes, go and die!

Where did anyone say that nothing good every came from WoV or MS? Actually, I don't want to be included if you are able to dig something to that effect up, so let me re-phrase. I certainly don't feel that way. I think Mike's stated objective of enabling players to be better informed gamblers/players is fantastic. I applaud much of the efforts he made throughout his site in doing that. That is right in line with one of my top objectives, which is a little narrower, in helping newer blackjack players become better blackjack players, even those aspiring to be more than recreational players, which is not exactly beneficial to my own situation. But I still believe strongly in providing that opportunity.

It is interesting to me that as some sort of defense of MS, you would advocate for considering all of Mikes contributions and not just some narrow issue that any of us may have with him.

But yet, when Mike made the decision that Qfit and I could not co-exist, a position requested by Qfit, Mike did not consider both parties previous contributions on his site, nor their interest and intend to contribute going forward. His only consideration was favoritism to a so-called friend.

So you are asking us (or me) to use a higher and more favorable standard in judging him than he used in judging me.

I know, its a bogus premise

he can certainly start a thread like this.. But this info would be "off topic" on the"wov is dying" thread.

Its like having a thread where customers report rat infestations when visiting a restaurant....and some dude posts another thread to say...remember this restaurant does serve good Ziti.

2 things can be equally true. The manboy could have indeed gone against a casino....and at the same time is treating customers like shit.

One has nothing to do with the other.

he is also entertaining when he rides a unicycle and juggles.....he would make a great clown.

He does haveother talents....just running a business is not one of them

Thank you for posting this very interesting reading.

I do think it's funny that people write rambling replies that don't pertain to the original subject matter, also to do so first thing in the morning. I mean one does have to have a life other than these forums, don't they?

The WoV in the past appears to have been a quality forum with loads of valuable information, but then came people trying to push their own agendas for whatever reason and have turned it into what it is today.
Sadly same person is attempting to do this here as well.

I doff the old skullcap to the Wiz for being man enough to admit his frailty, as he posted the following on DTL

"I think a lot of WoV members suffer from depression to one degree or another. As the good book says, "With much wisdom comes much sorrow." Not to say I have much wisdom but a major reason I'm always so damn busy with with physical challenges is to stay ahead of the abyss, which is always chasing me."

I've never had issues with mental illness (knock on wood) but I know some folks who've absolutely fried themselves.

If he is admitting to mental illness...thats one thing. but to get help and recognize your limitations are another thing.

limitations: running a customer service branch of a business.....while admitting that you seek to punish when you are in a bad mood.

1- recognize this is anti-social behavior that needs addressing
2-recognize that you are not any good for a business with that mentality.

Is he saying what the lady at the other thread was saying when asked why you gamble...and she said to forget about the reality of her cancer for a few hours. So is he saying he does physical activity to forget about his mental condition?.....literally running away from the issue....to forget for a few hours?
