Actually, I just want to change my username (it was probably a bad idea, lol) but I assume I will have to re-register for that.

Accounts cannot be deleted. They can only be permanently banned.

Since a change of username can lead to confusion in the community and requires a lot of backend work to correctly execute the change, we would have to put it up for a community vote.

Would you like us to do that now? If so, then please let us know what username you would like to change to and we will create a 7-day poll.

If the majority of voters votes "yes", then we would make the one-time change. This change would be final and no more changes would be allowed.

If the majority of voters votes "no", then you would not be allowed to change your username and the decision would be final.

    Please confirm.

We're here, we just don't get involved in discussions unless a member asks us a question, or we see a member break one of our few rules, or if a member chooses to involve us (e.g. by unfairly attacking us or our site). That way, our members feel more at liberty to express their true opinions without fear of repercussions.

Unfortunately, that username is already registered.

    Please provide an alternative.

Oddly enough - that person joined and then never appeared again.
Smells all too obvious to me - but that's just me.
That person would eventually show up and claim to have nothing to do with another member(s) here lol.

Good grief, why put the matter to a vote?

Really, WGAS what he calls himself, so long as it isn't "Beached Whales Clitoris" (already taken).

At first I was categoricaly against Administrator that he put that to a vote BECAUSE every person has a right to chose and later change his/her nick name in any forum but now after TM does not know to chose a gender for him/herself, Turbomoron fits perfect ;)

At the beginning I thought that "Turbomoron" nick name was a bit insulting of Ed (TG), and because of that I did not like that nick name because Ed is not so bad person after all. So lets Turbogenius choses if "Turbomoron" nick name stay or go.

BUT I will vote against that Mike becames Michaela :p

    For several reasons:
    1. Changing of usernames can create confusion in the community, particularly for those who aren't aware that a particular member has changed their username. Things get especially confusing if the member seeking a username change is quite active.

    2. When we change the username of a member, it only changes the username on their posts, but not where they have been quoted by other members. This would create even more confusion, and requires us to manually update every post the member has been quoted in to change their username. This is not a simple task.

    3. We do not wish to receive regular username change requests, so this drawn-out, community-dependent, and uncertain but final process will ensure only those who really want to change their usernames go through it.
