no I do not drink. I havent had alcohol since I left college where peer pressure got to me, and I felt I needed to drink in order to fit in. And even then I never drank alot......not for any moral reason...but because I just find the taste to be horrid. Even dressed in syrup or fruit drinks.....the taste cant be masked enough for me. And secondly I have never been in a position where I would forgo the horrid taste in order to achieve the under the influence state or the "buzz". I can have a good time without it And I can deal with adversity without it. I have no interest or need,in depressing my brain function..even temporarily.
    So that answers your question.
I have no problem with people who on occasion in a responsible manner would care to depress their brain function. I neither cheer them for doing it nor look down on them. I am neutral on that matter. In moderation, brain cells and liver cells regenerate and recover quite nicely. In fact in moderation there are some studies that show alcohol (specially red wine) is good as far as heart health and circulation/heart attack prevention. There are also healt benefits to dark chocolate.
However excesses of each often lead to an early demise. And in the case of alcohol you can take others with you.

    And as far as "denial".
I never said anyone denied he was an alcoholic.
There is alot of denial by alcoholics

    I am not an alcoholic
    I can control my alcoholism
I am not a danger to society when I am drunk
I can stop anytime i want
people love me when I am drunk

    lies and denial.

MC, by report, stays sober when on the road plying his AP craft.

    Smart move.

The casinos ply bettors with alcohol for one reason: to increase their bottom line.

    Mr V
mc has proved that he can be drunk out of his mind, and still type his vulgar rants with impeccable spelling and grammar.
So could he play machines this way as well?? Why not.

I wouldnt want him driving my daughter to work.......but I would trust him to be drunk and still make his money on machines.

Not all alcoholics fall down street dwellers soaked in urine.

That guy from I dream of Jeanie, and Dallas.....was an alcoholic that needed a liver transplant. bUT HE SURE COULD ACT WITH OR WITHOUT ALCOHOL
    mostly.....with

And he had his people I am sure, slapping him on the back.....you go boy.

    NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER/DENIAL....IN GENERAL

Larry, your pompous and arrogant demeanor is a sympton of your NPD. Your unwillingness to empathize with others is a symptom of your NPD. Your perceiving yourself as unique and superior is a symptom of your NPD. Your belittling of those you are envious of is a symptom of your NPD. Your exaggerated feelings of self-importance is a symptom of your NPD. While you heavily criticize others your inability to tolerate criticism of yourself is a symptom of your NPD. Your impatience and disdain when others talk about themselves is a symptom of your NPD. Your blaming of others and insulting them is a sympton of your NPD.

And those who suffer from NPD deny that they have a problem.

    I TOLERATE CRITICISM JUST FINE.

note that there is a thread called something like "issues with larrY S"

I did not throw a fit,...I answered comments calmly.

people certainly have a right to create that thread.

There is no evidence that I dont tolerate criticism..to use your words.

    I can give it...and I can take it....and I can defend it.

    I am a big boy

Larry, in several posts you have painted me as a drunk driver and a liar. I've stated more than once that I don't drive while drinking yet you keep insisting that I do. And you are doing it with no evidence. The question is why. The answer is your narcissism.

Posters might want to consider leaving issues about others' personal lives out of the discussions, unless it is clearly relevant to the discussion at hand.

    None of us are saints.

I care more about what MC posts than what he drinks.

I quit drinking years ago, but I've no agenda to tear down drinkers to make myself look good or otherwise justify the choices I've made.

I've said many times: "We're all bozos on this bus."

well I am all for it, if the person involved does his part not to make it a topic for discussion.

If I knew something about you that you would like to keep private, or that I suspected you would like to keep private, I would avoid comment.
However if you make a point to shove it into everyones face, and insult people at the same time....then all bets are off.

When you are an alcoholic, you have a depressed ability to sort out the possible consequences for your actions...whether that gwetting behind the wheel or posting racist insults that could derail a well intentioned thread...they just cant think that far ahead.

So no I do not share the view "he has no complaints and thats all that matters"

that is a very selfish view of life."No complaints" is not the standard by which good citizens functions.
Every alcoholic that had to get a liver transplant outwardly has "no complaints" while his liver was being destroyed
Every alcoholic that ran over a child had "no complaints" outwardly before the incident....there are many outwardly happy go lucky drunks behind bars for manslaughter
There are many outwardly happy go lucky alcoholics that destroy their children and wife.

So no I will not be one of the folks that tellS an ACTIVE alcoholic that I admire them, and that as long ass they have no complaints and keep me amused, I fully support them.

Now if someone told me in a PM that MrV was an alcoholic(which no one did)....I would not mention it.....unless he posted rants announcing that he is.

But being called a cotton patch nigger, as well as other stuff, by a person who admits to excess drinking. And after seeing his vile posts in wov, before the mods can delete them........MC has made his bed.

His "personal issues" have been rammed down pur throats.

    Fair game for discussion

And my discussion does not involve calling him names....Its a very well thought out response to people who on that other thread were envious of his lifestyle....were encouraging him to live his life ,,,,bravo....

not me. Based on what we know...based on what he shows us......I will not pat him on the back and be an enabler.

If tomorrow he gets behind the wheel impared, and kills a child on a bike......I will not be saying....."as long as he had no complaints" or "at least he lived life the way he wanted to"

I would respond knowing I didnt enable him, and wish him safety and recovery in prison.

    Best post of the month.

When asked at an Ivy League commencement speech what advice he had for young writers, Hunter Thompson replied, "I hate to recommend drugs and alcohol for everyone, but they've worked for me."

Loved his "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas:" both the book and the movie.

Most people in the developed world drink and/or do drugs: it's what we choose to do.

Thompson showed that a life of dissipation can still allow one to do "good work."

Face it: there are many things about life which "rub us wrong," and in regard to which we prefer to have a crutch to assist us.

Alcohol, weed, the Bible: the list goes on.

At the end of the day what does it really matter?

Lots of god-fearing, sober people cause fatal accidents: it isn't just the purview of folks who dabble.

That is a flawed debate point.
For example, the fact is that children born in single parent homes are less successful in life than those raised by 2 parents.
So a retort by a 18 year old girl would be....Obama came from a single parent home....so its fine if I spread my legs without protection...and those around her can cheer her on "you go girl, I admire your lifestyle,...as long as you have no complaints its fine".

    There are always outliers.

There are people who live to 100 years old smoking cigarettes every day. And there are tens of thousands or millions more getting cancer and dying painful deaths...sometimes while hurting kids with second hand smoke in their household over the years. So if someone came here and stated that they smoke 2 packs a day in their home around their family......I would not responds with "you go boy.....as long as you have no complaints go to it"

    Yes there are always exceptions
Doc Ellis pitched a no-hitter while on LSD according to him.
John Lennon wrote songs while on drugs.

    They are outliers

Excesses cost society, Obesity, Smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction......we pay for it in our car insurance premiums, health insurance premiums/deductibles/copays, home insurance. We pay for it in the things we buy at walmart( cost of drug addicts stealing to get money for a fix gets passed on to the general public). we pay for it in the effects of crime that alcoholism and drug addiction impose on us.

So only if most LSD users are as harmless to themselves and society as Doc Eliis and John Lennon.
If only most single parent children went to college or didnt have a higher incidence of HS drop out

I , in good conscience could not meet someone who proclaims he is an alcoholic, witness erratic/vulgar behavior, and pat him on the back and say.."you go boy///good for you///you arent hurting anyone...and you amuse me..so I admire your lifestyle...you are living life on your terms/"

There we differ, as I would not be as quick to judge and criticize his choice to drink; so long as nobody gets hurt, WGAS?

So far, I am unaware that his drinking has caused anyone to get hurt, at least no more than normally happens in human relationships.

I know we differ....If i saw parents letting their young kids run around the edge of the grand canyon unsupervised, I would critique their judgement and parenting by asking them to pay attention. You would say...lets see what happens before we judge or comment. And I certainly will not tell them"I see your children running around near the edge.....you go mom and dad......I admire your carefree attitude....as long as they have no complaints..its cool"

If an alcoholic comes here and exhibits erratic, vulgar behavior, sometimes spouting violent thoughts......I cant make the leap that he never exhibited these erratic behaviors in public. And I cant make the leap that he would never drive erratically as well.

But I know...he is soooooo funny.

And BTW, alcohol induced cirrhosis of the liver can cause effects that can cause you to harm others without being intoxicated....just from the liver disease....such as vomiting, confusion, memory loss, and tiredness . Let one of those symptoms rear its head while you are driving, ,,,good luck. And add just a couple beers to that....and you and anyone you meet on the road is totally fucked.

So I am not in your fold......the lets wait and see what happens society.....no not me.

Larry, you are continuing to push your bullshit that I drive drunk. Fuck you. You are a despicable human being trying to push your misery from NPD onto others. Fuck you. You don't like it when I drink I don't give a fuck.

And what's this shit about "he's so funny." I don't tell jokes on this site. It's just more NPD bullshit by you. Multiple times you've said or implied that I drive drunk. Fuck you, you miserable little bitch. Multiple times you've said that I am a liar. Fuck you. And you even have me going to prison. Fuck you.

You are just a miserable little bitch. A little crybaby punk. You've been crying about getting kicked off of WoV for two years. Denial. Go ahead and deny that it singed your crybaby feathers. Denial. You are in denial about your NPD. You cry like a little bitch.
