Experience just backs up the math. Suppose you see something like RR B RR B. Seems like a definite pattern, but why should the next outcome be R to continue the pattern? No reason at all, the chance is 50%, same as it breaking. If it was possible to predict how long a pattern continues outcomes wouldn't be random and a simple analysis would reveal the asymmetry. Tests for randomness and independence would fail and roulette would be beatable with just a little study.
