Poker Better pushing Hands

Hey all
I play a lot of SNGs or small MTT tournaments. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on, when you are short stacked, is it better to push with a AX or some kind of mid suited connector? I feel like I tend to run better when I push with the connectoes because then at least I usually have some live cards, where as if I push with a suited Ace rag I'm often out matched. I'm wondering if this is just my perception, or if it really is the smarter play to make
