Card counting works better in Spanish 21 than in Blackjack. Surprise, Surprise, but There Should Be No Surprise At All. Reasons are many, but think about this one:

You have counted, and counted all night long, just hope to get a meaningful high count to bet your max. Here it comes, you know the deck is rich in Tens and Aces. You bet your max, and were dealt an ace and a face card, but the dealer has a face card showing. What will happen next?

In Spanish 21, you will be paid 1.5 times, no matter what. But if it is blackjack, you will be be paid ABSOLUTELY NOTING, if the dealer has an ace in the hole. "Tough luck, my dear", so said the dealer when you blurted: "F%@&."
