Poker certain odds for starting hands

    Does any one have a method they use when getting into a pot? Is there certain hand you will play if you have chips that you wont play when your short stacked? me yes example ill play suited connectors 8-9dd with chips but usally lay it down short stacked unless 3+ players in the pot. middle pocket pairs? early position? late pos? my prob is do I raise limp I think there got to a guide or book that goes over this. thanks for reading.
