I was playing a game and near me, I personally saw a crowd SWARM near a Machine when a Player just minding his business got like 8 or 9 Quick Hit Symbols on a Quick Hit Game and the Machine started BLARING his Winning business, flashing and basically screaming,"Big Winner! Big Winner!" He looked troubled as the crowd swarmed near him to see. He seemed to be thinking,"Great. Now a whole bunch of Random People I don't even know now know that I got a $5,000 win! I'm going to get harassed for this money!" He CLEARLY didn't want the crowd to know that he won $5,000.

Yep, better get security to walk or drive you to your car. Specially if you are in Vegas.

I hit a $6800 Royal on a machine at Circus Circus at 3am and had to stand on my chair and shout for ten min before I saw another soul. It was a janitor. It was another 15 min before she got me a security guard and 5 more before a floor person paid me. Maybe two customers walked by in the whole period.

Wow so much fuss for $5k, $50k I could understand, but not $5k.

I've been guilty of swanning up to tables to watch somebody make a killing.

    +Junket King,

Machine pay outs are cash hand pay and the winning display removed by the winner with any deposit .

I was targeted by pirates after winning big at the Roulette table. I was headed for the parking garage that was detached from the casino in broad daylight. Four people followed me. When I turned left and proceeded to walk to the main drag they all turned around and went back into the casino. I had walked to the casino from where I was staying in an RV park. After that I started taking taxis. They look for easy targets. Robbing someone in a multi-level parking garage filled up with cars is an easy target.

You'd be surprised. A guy said he won $500 in free play in a Giveaway Casino Game and he went back to his game and was playing with his free play. Two random burly men sat on both sides of him and began ,"Joking," that he would be buying dinner for them. He felt uncomfortable and harassed not surprisingly. A Casino Employee just happened to be walking by and he gave her a "Help me, these guys are harassing me," look, and she got the two random burly men to get away from the $500 on free play winner. He was grateful and gave her a $20 tip.

My personal favorite was when a VERY large man pulled a knife on me as I was the corner to walk into the Western Casino. I had $15,000 on me to deliver to my team. We were playing a bar progressive.

He said, "give me your money!!!"

I did not look up or react. I casually side stepped him and kept walking at a normal perhaps even slow pace. When I got to the entrance doors I just glanced to my right and he was still there, in the exact same spot holding his knife, with this look on his face of confusion and indignation that can only be summed up with the phrase, "excuse me, but I was mugging you...you could at least pay attention to me:("

Oh, I smiled and waved a friendly gesture.

I trained for years, include taking a knife or a gun from anyone dumb enough to allow themselves or myself to get in range. It's the one's that know to stay out of range that bother me. What you did was bold. I like that tactic. Make them mean it. You forced him to come into range. He read that as a threat more than likely.

Your story sounds amazing! It sounds like your equanimity was enough to discourage this man to the point where he never experienced anything like it.

I had a similar story, only I had to take a right hook. His face looked a little confused afterwards too :)

In the fullness of time I've thought about the psychology of what happened. Mugging people is probably just as stressful to the mugger as the mugged. They plan, they go through a list of possible outcomes and try to account for anything that could happen and how they would react. I was simply lucky, that this particular mugger had not considered "a happy smile and no effect" as a possibility.

I read about a one ridiculous case in Romania recently. Due to the fact that the visitor of the casino reacted too loudly to each of his losses, he eventually was thrown out of the gambling establishment. The player then sat down in front of the casino and declared that he would starve until he was allowed inside. There is no information on how many hours or days this guy spent in front of the casino and whether he managed to get inside.:stop:

That all seems very sensible to me. I am still sitting cross-legged in front of my high-school sweetheart's house. I am very tired and hungry. Can you bring food...:)

So I'm at the Atlantis in Reno for a friend's wedding. After the reception I decided to do some light scouting on my way out the door. There was an IGT tech on his back with his head in a machine doing wiring for a new bank of five meter progressives (RF,SF,4Aces,4K-234's,4K-5-K).

I was curious as to what this new bank was going to be and thought I'd strike up a friendly conversation to find out. Here's the whole conversation:

FK: Laying down on the job I see:)

    Tech: LOL

    FK:How's it going?

Tech: Pretty good, sorry this is taking so long. We ran out of CAT 5. I just need to know the meter-rise you want on the progressive, it's not on my work order.

(I realized at this point the tech thought I was "a suit" and worked for the casino. I resigned myself to being helpful and not taking advantage of the situation. I knew the Atlantis had EXACTLY 1% on all their VP progressives.)

FK: 1% is our S.O.P. Just give it 1%. I then joked if you need any more CAT 5, I have six cats and could spare one.

    Tech: LOL

    FK: Good Luck

    -----------------

I wandered off and went home. The following day I went back to see if my instructions had been carried out. They had!(sort-of?) He had dutifully put 1% meter-rise on this 5/8 BoPo VP progressive, on EACH of the five meters. It was now a very strong win from reset.

The play lasted six full months. I ran into that tech again, though this time, not in my suit. He started apologizing to me and I cut him off and let him know that it was not his fault.

I said, "When I said,'1%', I meant 1% split between the meters, not 1% on each of them. It's an honest mistake and I am not upset.”

In truth I was NOT UPSET.

    -------------------

Here's the funniest part of this story: He told the casino that one of their supervisors had told him to put 1% on the meters and one of their real supervisors "remembered" saying it and took credit for what I had done.

    I've heard this story.:jawdrop:
It happened in New Zealand. A pair from China made a preliminary agreement with the dealer and made a roulette bet only after the ball fell. The dealer was supposed to receive half of the winnings, but all their plans collapsed at one point. The guards noticed that something was wrong and immediately revealed the intruders' plan, and then called the police to the casino. As a result, the girl was forced to pay a rather large fine, and the dealer and the guy went to jail for their machinations.

There are some interesting people in the sportsbooks. You have fans rooting for their teams which often clashes with someone betting on the other team.

The last game of the NBA series, a guy bet on Phoenix. It must have been his first bet, first time in a sportsbook, and first game he ever watched. He'd laugh like a hyena at every Milwaukee basketball and scream with his fist thrust in the air every Sun's basket.

I thought, how is it that of all the places to sit, the I seem to end up next to the guy nutter than squirrel turds?

I saw a guy sitting quietly at another table watching the game. I thought "why can't more
people be like that guy"? Until the end. He pulls a stuffed animal out of his jacket and says to it.
See, I told you we should have bet on the Bucks.

Technically, the girl should have went to jail too for her part in it, not get a slap on the wrist by just having to pay a huge fine.

100% true story. I was simply too dense to acknowledge I was being mugged, and like Wile E Coyote, you only fall if you've studied the law of gravity.
