I was on another site and was banned when I came to the defense of a person that used the phrase "crap out".
I have been around the craps tables for a few years, I am kinda a newbie. But I hear that all the time and it doesnt seem to offend people.

the context it was used in was that some guy complained that a spot opened up at a table and he bought in, without having placed a bet yet..and the dice were passed over him. It was said that its standard practice, that someone could crap out and be replaced over and over theoretically, and the person to the left would never get the dice. Most people reading that gets the intent of what was trying to be conveyed.

yet that person was thrown out as being an idiot, and I got banned/thrown out for posting a defense post, which was taken down

I wont give the board owner free advertising. My BF says not to waste my time there.

But it brings up the question. Do reasonable people go balistic over use of that term.

I dont think its a regional thing. I can look up on the internet and find acceptable definitions that has seven out and crap out being one in the same as far as accepted slang.

what do u peeps have to say

I will post a copy of my deleted post. as a new entry

No tom, I did not concede I was wrong. I spent the last week finishing the xxxxxxxxx sports book and it was pretty good. Alot of pages but easy to digest. Plus I liked the blank pages at the end where I could put my notes from the book and from other sources.

But back to crapping out. Where a poster was berated as being stupid for using it by xxxxxxxxx.
Dave, my sweet. "throw craps" and "crapping out" are not the same. It pretty clear the difference in the 3 sentenses

1-I rolled for 15 minutes and then crapped out
2-I rolled for 15 minutes and then threw craps numbers
3-rolled for 15 minutes and then sevened out.

2 of the above are the same among craps players

"With this being said, here’s a bit of advice: Don’t try to correct anyone who uses the term “crapped-out”, because old habits die hard, and as if losing their money wasn’t bad enough, you will not endear yourself to anyone by trying to correct them, but only be perceived - as a “smart-ass”. (And nobody likes a “smart-ass” - when they lose.)" this is a quote from PERRYB

Perry. I appreciate the response. I agree. I would never be the one to correct someone for using an accepted term. I would not ask that they be banished from a casino, or from a message board for being "ignorant". When the word 'OUT' is used, it can only mean one thing. And sensible people know what that is.

"crapping out" means sevening out in the game of craps. "craps" IS THE NAME OF THE GAME in this case. It isnt the result of a dice throw. It isnt referring to 2.3.12.. Its referring to the game. Its impossible to go OUT from a 2 or 3 or 12. Dealers dont call you out no matter how many of them u throw. "I threw for an hour and then crapped out"....obviously means "I threw for an hour and then sevened out at the craps table or at the game of craps" . Nowhere in that declaration would a reasonable person think of the2,3,or 12.

Its like people say "the sun is rising"....but the sun is stationary. However we all know full well what is happening when we hear the statement. We dont need to correct the person. We dont need to banish them or throw a fit, or use the persons statement as reason to call them an idiot.

"crapping out" is a reasonable way to convey sevening out. There is no misconception that can occur. We all know we cannot 2 out. So it must be a 7 that is causing the "out". We all know the stationary sun is not moving or "setting" but reasonable people know about and accept the term.

people accept these type descriptions all the time. But there are always a few pompous blowhards that need to make a point, just to show us how knowledgeable they think they are and how they can say "gotcha"

But usually having the need to point out these ticky tack "errors" shows great insecurity in one's knowledge.

I hope all that responded to me have a wonderful day. Take care

I see nothing wrong with the description .
Its like someone saying " at the casino, when it comes to blackjack, I never win".

Blackjack is the name of the game as well as a hand within the game. The person obviously is not saying that they always lose with a hand of blackjack.

And the person who says I crapped "out",...is talking about the game of craps and not the 2.3.12 roll.
they are saying that at the game of craps they sevened out.......with "OUT" being the key word,,,,since the 7 is the only 'Out" number called by the stickman.

    Regards " Crap Out " vs. " 7 Out " -

    The " Politically Correct " terminology would be " 7 OUT " ! -

As stated previously ONLY during the Come-Out Cycle is a 2, 3 or 12 a Loser with a Pass Line wager -

However, one does NOT relinquish the dice in such situations -

It is ONLY after a point # is established and the shooter " 7's Out " that the dice are passed to the next shooter !

    " 7 OUT " is THE PROPER terminology -

Albeit MOST prevalent is the term " Crapped Out " to those who play the game -

Does THAT make it correct - that MOST players do NOT know / utilize the proper terminology ?

    Hardly !

    $...eE..$

"seven out" may have been the first method of conveying the message that one has thrown a 7 after a point has been established and the shooter and the roll ended(Out),
But in the english language there are and will be going to the future many ways of expressing the same thing. And I guess there will always be the speech police to tell us all what is correct .

originally the word "awful" meant ..awe inspring. Now it means the opposite. So according to Snakeyes its "politically correct" to use the original and only definition of the word. Heck , use it on your daughters graduation day, when she is standing around with her friends and proudly proclaim how "awful" she looks. A phrase like "hook up" means something totally different than it did 100 years ago. A word like Rubbers means only footwear 100 years ago. Gay, means something totally different in 2015 as it did in 1915. You can fix a pet, fix a meal, and fix a toaster,...all totally different meanings of the same 3 letter word but somehow we can figure out what is being said based on the context the person uses.

So TODAY in 2015....."CRAPPED OUT".....(in the context of the casino game of craps) means 7 out....and is totally acceptable to use without being shunned like the OP says happened to her. There is no "political correctness" to worry about. It doesnt offend people if you use the term "crapped out" as using the word "colored" would offend african americans. It has nothing to do with "political correctness". Its simply another way to express the same concept.

People using the term "crapped out".........are well understood and easily accepted in the gambling community. Maybe "7-out" was the first way to express it.....but since then language has evolved.

its cool. there are pompous A-holes that have that type of need.
there are socially backward people who think there is one and only one way to communicate an idea. THEIR WAY
Just as the OP says....you can correct someone who says the sun is setting,.....where in reality the sun isnt moving at all. However I guess there are some people in the world who would call the person "stupid" . Some self important individual who would feel the need to "educate" us on the workings of the solar system.

The term "crapping out" in the world most of us live in has come to mean a general failure to accomplish a task.
"I tried to fix my plumbing, got all the tools and parts, but I crapped out". "I tried to ask co-worker out o a date, but I crapped out".

and guess what....no matter how long you roll.......you can FAIL to extend your roll......by "crapping out".

you must be viewed a real loser when you correct someone in a situation where no correction is needed.

I guess if you wanted to correct..you can correct people who use a double negative. That is a real error in grammar(although 99 percent of normal people get the actual meaning without correcting).

But there is actually no error to correct when a person uses "crappng out". It means 7 out. Since it is impossible to 2-out, 3-out or 12-out.

    crappiing out means failing to...
    continue a roll at craps
    accomplish a task in life

you may not like to use it.....so dont.

But its perfectly fine for others to use it....so dont embarrass yourself by correcting something that needs no correction. Its a perfectly understandable phrase just as "the sun is setting" is understandable without correction needed.

It must make you feel smart when you run into people you can label as "stupid".

And it must make them feel sorry for you when you try to correct them with no factual reason to hang your hat on.

I can see from your post and visiting the other site its john patrick that threw the hissy fit and dumped you.
He has dumped me many times. Its what he does
Just be patient with him. He is about 100 years old and its easier for him to delete posts rather than post forming a cogent contrary opinion.
Some call it cowardly. But I just call it old age.
Just take solace in the fact that you are no match for him as he hides behind his delete button.
He will let you back on if you just agree with him....

yes he was right to delete her. otherwise he looks like an idiot.

    self preservation

you cant fault a man for protecting himself from being viewed as ignorant

To some, being viewed as a coward is better than being viewed as ignorant. Its a matter of upbringing and personal sensibilities

you are right...he was indeed right to protect his house of cards by nuking the young upstart.

I have heard the word "crap out" in referring to a player who simply gone bust at the table, though it is not a commonly used term. As for Internet boards go, just realize that many of them are run by guys who have 'something to sell' or they are 'the authority' when it comes to Craps and only they can say 'what is and what isn't' ... I advise to avoid those boards! Most of those guys get in to systems and "throwing methods" that if you use them, you will most likely suffer heavy loses.

I agree. Setting oneself up as the one and only authority is a sign of insecurity and nothing more than a sales pitch for snake oil.

I also agree with your other meaning...which I mentioned. You can crap out at anything in life. And it doesnt involve throwing a 12.
You can crap out in your love life, you can crap out in your professional life, crap out with your investments.,,and yes you can even crap out in the game of craps.

You just have to be able to be sensible and figure out the context the phrase was used in. We do just fine in this world figuring out the context of the use of the word "fix". Fixing a ticket, fixing a toaster, getting a cat fixed, fixing dinner, I am fixing to go to work. And most sensible people know what is meant by "crapping out" based on the context.

It seems the losers on the other site have lost their argument,
they are sitting around now playing detective attacking posters personally rather than cogently debating a topic

they take on the persona of their mentor
they have the gambling IQ of their mentor

neither they or their mentor have the gambling IQ to discuss a topic, and they rather muse over identities of posters, and seek censorship.

    typical

the old timer has been exposed as a cry baby, throwing a tantrum over something that is only viewed as objectionable by mentally ill self important psychotics. And HIS SUPPORTERS cant seem to cogently support him with worthy debate. All they can do is muse over identities.

throwing a tantrum over the use of the word "crapping out".....shows he needs to get more of a life outside coaching and gambling at underground illegal casinos.

    he and is 4 followers

the board of this great dominant force in gambling, garners about 2 posts a day. After all those books sold, all those seminars, all those tv shows, all those pay per views, all those years selling sports service......2 posts a day. And these 2 oR 3 WEASELS ...are worried about poster identities.

hey guys...how about wondering why the 2 of you are about 50 percent of the entire posting community on a board who's owner labels himself " a dominant force".

maybe the word hasnt gotten out yet.

looks like mr integrity, mr man who hides under mommas dress......decided to post some items 2 weeks late.
The original posting date appears as if it has been there all along.
But mr valiant , mr shiver in the corner make believe man.......thinks no one notices. Except his posters were asking JGIRL if her lack of response meant something. YEAH....it meant the owner of the board was petrified and felt that by holding on to the post for 2 weeks, people will forget about it.
    How scared he must be
He didnt count on cowardice being exposed on another board
He had to release the post of JG....he lookded overmatched otherwise.

    he still does.

Many of these 'gambling clubs' are just centered around a person or personality who presents themselves as the 'guru' or 'authority' of the group and what they do. Be it Religion, Business sales, investments, or even gambling, such groups tend to be come 'cultish' about their take on things, and the leader of the group tends to take it all in the head, to the point where they become unreasonable, if not just down right absurd.

Cult clubs are interesting, for they never are what what they claim to be. An example are the MLM (multi-level marketing) cults where the members absolutely believe they are going to be rich and successful and that the club methods are the only path to their methods. The painful reality is that none of them are rich or successful, and many actually drain life savings and liquidate other assets of the members who are convinced they need to buy more seminars, more training, and of course more products.

Gambling cults tend lead the members to believe they have an advantage over the casino. When the members advantage don't work, it is the member that is blamed for improperly implementing them, and therefor more seminars, tweaking sessions, private coaching is needed. When objectively evaluating a gambler of these cult groups, it is found that their wins and losses are no better or worse than that of non-cult groups. Now, the cult leader will defend this by saying something most absurd such as, "Our methods don't work if they are being observed". In other words, "if you know the method you cannot see the method, and if you cannot see the method you can use the method!"

You crap out on a come out cycle. You seven out on a point cycle. From the mouths of ignorant players come ignorant remarks. But this is a politically correct society, so we can't "tell it like it is", like Howard Cosell used to do.

ON A COME OUT ROLL, throwing a 2, 3, 0r 12 does not force you "out". The stick man does not chant "2 out".
In fact throwing a 2 can win for the entire table if they happen to be betting the dont pass. There is nothing "out" about throwing a 2,3,12 on the come out roll(or after a point is established). The dice are not passed. You can throw 10 craps numbers in a row in this case and win for some , lose for some, but you will never be out till you throw a 7 after the point is established.

crapping out can only mean 7 out in the context of craps. And then based on the context of the statement the speaker could have made money or lost money.
I rolled for 2 hours straight and then finally crapped out(rolled a 7)
I rolled a few times and each time I crapped out real fast(even here he could be a winner if he was betting the dark side,,,,its all in the way he describes it and the ensuing conversation to set up the context)

crapping out in the context of the game of craps can only mean having the roll end when you throw a 7.....failing to extend a roll with the roll of a 7. The roll could be 2 rolls in length or 2000 rolls in length..........when you fail to extend it..at that moment you have crapped out and the dice are taken from you.

crapping out never means throwing a 2 3 or 12......since the roll never ends, the dice never gets passed, ANYTIME a 2,3,12 is rolled.
the stickman NEVER calls you OUT. You continue to roll and either make money on those rolls or lose money depending on the side you are betting.

pompous self absorbed, self important people will claim that"crapping out" is understood by the self proclaimed elite as someone throwing craps numbers 2 , 3 and 12.....and somehow the dice are passed as the stickman yells " 2 out"

However knowledgeable people who have actually spent time around craps tables , know that the term crapping out...means sevening out in the game of craps. Where the use of the term "craping" refers to the game of craps and not the roll of the 2,3, and 12.

there is no way a reasonable, sensible, non mentally ill person when hearing someone say....I lost all my money at the tables because all the shooters crapped out really fast....would think that the person is telling us that all the shooters were throwing the 2,3,and 12 alot.....and those rolls of 2,3, and 12 lost the person all their money.

its just an exercise for the pompous and socially backward to argue otherwise.

I think socially backward (in craps lingo) folks who say crapped out are not that knowledgeable. We do know, as you say, that they mean sevening out, but it is no big deal. Some are corrected some are not. The putz from Lutz made a big deal? Surely, as I don't frequent that board much, there must have been something else? Thrown off for just that??
