Horse Racing Derby winning bet question

    I bet Pharaoh at closing odds of 5/2....but the tv announcement says it pays 7.80 for every 2$ bet, which means it really isn't 5/2 odds. How does it work, Does that mean my 50$ win bet pays 195$ for 7.80. Or do I only get 125$ at the 5/2 odds?

    when a horse pays 7.80, you win 5.80 and your 2 bucks is returned to you. 50 to win would return 195, 145 profit and your 50 back.
