He had a major court case against (I believe) Tropicana when it was Tropworld. He was a controversial figure from what I understand. I never met him.

Amazing he is still being talked about! I guess that's why he was a legend!

What a brilliant guy he was. Has anyone heard from or about him lately? I was one of his players in the 90's & got pretty good at playing his system.

Anyone heard about him since 2015?

    Thanks

O tempora! O mores! I read again a post published in Usenet in the year of grace 2000. The author was a mysterious Doug Grant ™. He loved to add the trademark symbol to his name. Here is the article I was referring to:

    https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/rec.gambling.blackjack/g9Iaj0I1yNI
    Card Counter Catchers Speak!

Doug Grant ™ was himself a card-counter and a “trainer” as well. Then, he turned against famous card-counters. He exposed the “famous card-counters” who turned into card-counter catchers! The likes of Arnold Snyder, Stanford Wong, Anthony Curtis, Peter Griffin, Max Rubin…

The original card-counter turned sour against his trade. Doug Grant ™ wrote:

“So if you thought that Max Rubin's description of how suspect card counters were identified then, you should hear how much easier it is for casinos today to label anyone a card counter in less than five minutes.

Card counting systems are a BIG CON. Max Rubin's (A.K.A. Mike Riordan) sworn testimony (and dozens of other similar type depositions provided to the courts by other card counter catchers during the Campione case) provides irrefutable proof that the authors and software hucksters have been lying all along. They are using the fraudulent claim that card counting systems can still win to sell their worthless and dangerous systems, books and software. This post provides clear proof the con men hucksters and casino agents are lying to this newsgroup and their sucker clients.”

Viciousness and crookery deserve attention — always in the form of warning. Unsuspecting humans deserve to know and stay safe from such viruses.

“The Norman “Bates” Wattenbergers and Don “Raging Bull” Schlesingers of the world are krooks, and mooks, and bazooks. They strongly promote blackjack as a professional game, but they have never practiced it professionally. They lost big early in the game, and they ran away from casinos. Yet, they discovered the card-counting scheme in blackjack would greatly favor the casinos financially. Therefore they invested big-time in casino stocks… but they admitted it only after they were exposed. And they still sell books and cook-the-book software worshipping card-cunting!” 3:14

To that end, we must keep atop this elemental thread: “Current Feud with Qfit (Norman Wattenberger)”:
