    Hi,

I'm curious as to why the betting exchanges (Smarkets, Betfair, Matchbook, etc.) don't offer outright markets on some events. When one of them doesn't offer outright markets on such events, it tends to be the case that none of them do, so I'm supposing it's something to do with the basic principles of exchanges and the way they work, not so much any particular exchange.

For example, right now all the bookies are offering outright markets for the United Rugby Championship, but none of the exchanges are. I see this a lot with rugby events. What's up with that?

    Cheers.

I have no idea what you mean with this reply.

What is the 'tipsterstat telegram channel'? This returns no search engine hits at all.

You're correct in observing that some betting exchanges, such as Smarkets, Betfair, and Matchbook, don't always offer outright markets on certain events, including rugby events like the United Rugby Championship. This occurrence is likely influenced by a combination of factors related to the basic principles of exchanges and the dynamics of the betting market.

    1. Liquidity and Market Demand

    2. Event Popularity and Coverage

    3. Risk Management

    4. Market Concentration
While it may be frustrating not to find outright markets on certain events on betting exchanges, it's essential to understand that their focus is on providing efficient and liquid markets. As the betting landscape evolves and interest in specific events grows, it's possible that more exchanges may choose to offer outright markets in the future. For now, traditional bookmakers tend to cater to a broader range of markets, including outright bets, for various events to meet the diverse demands of bettors.
