I was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1948. I grew up in one of the most culturally rich areas in the US. My interests growing up were sports, music and weather.
In 1965 I Attended the University of Miami. I found the learning experience quite stifling at the university, especially because they did not have a meteorology program. The closest program was Oceanography and it did not hold my interest. So my attention went to sports, music, horse racing and Pool. I developed an expertise at the game of Pocket Billiards and I became South Florida’s amateur champion in 1968 with a nick-name of “Florida Marty”.

After joining the Air Force in 1967, becoming a meteorologist, but eventually losing my vision from an eye disease, I came to a place of grounding and clarity about my journey. In 1991 I wrote & self-published my memoir, Blindsighted, One Man’s Journey From Sight to Insight.

After spending years in a counseling community I wrote and published Emotional Cleansing, The Spiritual Journey Toward a Clear Heart. Emotional Cleansing is a self-help book based on information I learned as well as all the experiences I had during the years I spent as a counselor.
In 2013 I wrote and published my third book, The Enlightened Gambler, The Heart and Spirit of the Risk Taker in All of Us. The book is a blend of my Brooklyn roots with my spiritual path. It explains the human desire to “dance in the land of uncertainty.”
(excerpts from a book review by Phyllis Campbell, Stauntin, Virginia)
THE ENLIGHTENED GAMBLER: THE HEART AND SPIRIT OF THE RISK TAKER IN ALL OF US by Marty Klein
The title of this book could easily conjure up several plots, including the reformed gambler ready to preach the joys of abstinence to all unfortunate enough to cross his path. The subtitle gives more insight into what to expect, but this book is many things and may have different meanings for different people. To me, that's the true definition of the term "successful book."
Marty Klein has lived, and is living, a rich and meaningful life. The reader is taken from the
playground in a Jewish school, to the poolrooms of Brooklyn, to the sometimes gritty, sometimes glamorous, excitement of the race track, and to the dark despair of a falling stock market.
