I just got back from a 4-day trip to Las Vegas. I stayed at Ballys and mostly played on The Strip.

I played Craps at Ballys, Linq, Caesars Palace, Fremont, Golden Gate, The D, and Sunset Station.

    - Ballys, Linq, Caesars Palace was a negative progression for me. The average roll was under 8 and lots of crap rolls. All the tables where $10 tables. I ran in to some craps players from my hometown who also where not having any success on any TR property playing craps.

    - The D was hard to play, very short rolls for all shooters with lots of craps rolls. Dealers said that the dice run cool so they try and up the energy at the table so that the dice will work better. Tables at the D where mostly empty.

    - Fremont I had an average of 12 rolls. Tables there are $3 or $5 and constantly full. 2x odds, max $500 bet. No bonus bets.

    - Sunset Station the backwall is exceptionally bouncy. The dice will launch off it with extra bounce putting them back to where the stick man is, or often launching the dice way up in to the dealers chip stack or off the table.

    - Golden Nugget has a washboard under the felt on each end of the table. I did not even bother to play craps there.

    - Golden Gate tables was always full.

Overall, my trip was a net negative for me. I only had four winning session out of ten or so sessions. Some sessions I terminated early because I was hammered with short rolls or the inability to have any influence with the dice.

I played either at the $5 or $10 level for about 4 to 6 hours a day. The tier credit and comps I got was very skimpy. I was advised I need to play at the green chip to see anything like free rooms and the black chip level if I want free rooms, free food and perks, and free play for 4 hours a day.

I did see quite a few DI shooters in the various casinos, some where locals and some where players I know flying in to play craps. The report I got was that the dice where difficult to influence, tables bouncy and the 'superball like' backwall is devastating to any on-axis toss. Nobody reported winning large and nobody was having much success with DI.

After talking to some local players who live in LV and out of town players that I know who are avid craps players, I no longer think that DI is an effective Advantage Play in most casinos for the casual player. I am not sure if the bouncy tables, bouncy backwalls or if the dice themselves are unbalanced is the issue, however I suspect the combination of all of those factors is enough to counter most attempts at Dice Influence.

I do think that if a player has a craps table at home and can shoot everyday with the similar conditions that might be found in the casino (bouncy table, bouncy backwall, similar casino dice) then they might be able to develop a method of shooting that can have some effect on the dice.

Some of the best rolls I saw where from players who would toss the dice low, hard and strong. This is where the dice would it the table about 1/3 the way down and tumble to the backwall with a strong hit, and bounce back almost to the stick man. Many times I observed that such rolls would easily get in to the 20's. Players with weak rolls, soft rolls, or tossing them high in the air would consistently have short rolls.

    About bonus bets:

The 'Small, All, Tall' bonus bet is the easiest bonus bet to get, however most casinos reset the bet on any roll of the seven, even if the puck is in the OFF position. This is not how the bet creator designed the bet, but it is how most casinos now operate that bet.

The Firebet is on most of the strip tables, though the payouts has been greatly degraded. Where once you saw 1 for 1000 on a 6 hit firebet, now you see 1 for 250. Seems that the payouts for this bets varies from property to property.

    No Heat
Oddly, I got no heat this trip. Last year about this same time I got heat about short rolls, needing both dice to hit the backwall or needing the dice to hit the backwall harder. This year, nothing - not a word. What changed?

    Comps
Very little for red chip play. I will not be getting any lucrative offers for my play.

    Other games played
When I was not playing craps I played Video Poker - Bonus Poker, @ quarters. I hit 2 4-aces and plenty of 4-kinds, but no Royals. So I ended up a bit down. Player points for Video Poker are difficult at the quarter play. I would need to play 8 to 12 hours a day to see any offer of meaning to come my way. I think I played 3 hours a day this trip.

    Meals
I mostly ate in the TR properties Diamond Lounges with a local Las Vegas player.

    Other
Went on the High Roller, my Diamond friend got free tickets. It is worth the time!!

    Mark V -

It should be readily apparent to you ' et al ' that " DI " does NOT work -

THAT is where the back wall pyramids come into to play -

Their sole intent is to ' randomize ' the outcome of the dice toss -

AND they do their job quite efficiently - if I may add ! -

There are other posts on this forum - in particular by " Harley " -

    Which depict - in video(s) exactly WHAT I professed ! -

It all looks good on paper - BUT - when put into actual application -

Leaves a WHOLE lot to be ' desired ' !

    $nakeEye$,

I think there is more going on than just the Diamond Backwall randomizing the dice as to the poor conditions that myself and other craps players faced. I was not the only one that lost 50% of their buy in each time. Many other players got whipped out far greater than I did with setting up a lot of bets right after the point was established only to see the next roll be the seven out. This happened so frequently that many craps players lost hundreds in 20 minutes! The disgust on their faces said it all to me, they where shocked.

Perhaps casinos in bankruptcy should be avoided?

A few corrections to my Trip Report

The degraded fire bet is 300 to 1 and not the 250. The casino with the washboard at the ends is the Four Queens.

Many of the casinos had the murky red dice, not the crystal clear ones, and the pips where large and deep, not the smaller and shallow pips as you seen in the crystal clear dice. Casinos that had the dark opaque dice the rolls trended to be short.

Not sure what Nevada law states about Dice, but all I know is that the dice do not look as well crafted as the one I can buy or seen in years past.
