Sports Betting Gambling a problem in sport?

I was reading up on this topic for a project and found this article:

Do you think there's a problem with gambling? I know they have had issues in the English football league with players betting on games they are involved in!

The problem is not gambling. The problem is making bad percentage bets. Not knowing what you are betting and why you should or should not bet. Is the problem. There are very few winning gamblers. People bet just to have action. Or to say they have a bet. Take all the bets that are made every day. In America. And you will see that 96% or more all have the worst of the percentages. So how is someone going to win. Taking the worst of every bet. People are clueless that they have the worst of the bet. They give up 10% or 20% of the juice. And think they are going to win. What people are doing is not gambling. What they are doing is giving there money away. A bet on a ball game or any event makes the event more exciting. The money is what makes the event more exciting and interesting. Without the money or something of value to play for or cheer for it would be nothing.Gambling your money on any event puts meaning to the event. Because you are wagering some thing of value puts way more interest and excitement in the game. Every body in the world. Spends there money on something. And if they enjoy it why not. In life it does not matter how much we have. Because the day our journey ends. Nothing belongs to us. Live a full life so when our journey ends we will have used it all up.Gambling is a big part of our life. Everything we do in life is a gamble. Where we live where we work. Where we go. The things we do. We gamble when we buy a car a house a job a business. We gamble on our marriage.We gamble when we wake up. We gamble when we go to school we gamble when we invest our money or buy stocks. WE even gamble when we vote. I know enough about gambling. That gambling is bigger than the stock market. Every body talks about the deficit. And a lot of peoples reply is we wont be her so who cares? Will All they have to do is regulate gambling and they can pay back the deficit. You don't believe it. What if I prove it with out a douth. I will prove that regulating gambling. Is a positive. And everything from gambling will help the people and the country. And the only way people will get hurt and destroied is because gambling is not regulated. That is what is doing the all the harm. And problems. Do you want me to give youn a list of all the bad and all the problems. Not regulating gambling is causing and resposable for. I will be happy to give them to you. If you will print them and show them to all the people in America. Not regulating gambling. Is a serious issue and is hurting America. Nobody. tells it like it realy is. Her is a good title if someone wants to print. What I am going to say. What happins in las Vegas stays in las vegas. What I am saying what hapiness in las Vegas is getting out of las vegas. Do you want to her the truth. Or keep going with the same stories. And incorrect information. I will give you the truth about gambling and regulating gambling. And why certain people do not want gambling to be regulated. And forget all that baby stuff. Its bad it will depress you. it will have children gambling. it will habve people loose more than they have. Gambling is adictive gambling will have people bet more money. I have gambled all over the world. I have never seen one person take there life because of gambling. And just for the record and more false information. Women and children don't hardly gamble at all. You herd me. How about all these other great habits and vices they legalized. Howe bmany people have they killed. Smoking drinking drugs. eating stock market. unemployment. Weapons. Home invasions gangs. And you talk about gambling being bad. You people are hipocrets. If gambling is bad. Then how is las vegas allowed to oper rate. And people fly and drive two thousand miles to gambling. Isnt the truth you want to keep gambling locked up in las vegas. So they can get all nthe money. Gambling does not destroy people Like all these other vices. If you would print every day in the newspaper what alchole does in all the cities to the people and children you could close up America. I wont even go into smoking drugs. Prastatution. And all the other legalized vices and habits. Gambling wont cause one percent of all the damage these habits and vices cause. I hope you see a better picture about the truth about gambling. And if someone wants to print my story. On all the positive things gambling will bring let me know. And you are all part of this country. And vdesierve to know the truth. Thank you fof listning to me. What happins in Las Vegas is getting out of Las Vegas. I am her for the people. And I do not need your vote. So I can give the truth.

One quick reply. There will allways be some issues. As long as there are people in the world. We learn from our mistakes. And there is no such thing as perfect. So strive for exelence. To be the best that you can be. When I talk about gambling I am talking about all the gambling. When People cheat bor fix a game. It is no longer gambling. Its Cheating and fixing a game or event. That is a crime. And it does not mater if you are a pro. or amature. Fixing a game or throwing a game or event like boxing cheating at a game. Is bracking the law. Betting on yourself is not bracking the law. And betting big money on yourself takes heart and courage. Betting against yourself is doing something wrong. And you are hurting your team mates the league and the morals and integraty of the game. And this should be a serious charge. Not because they are gambling. But because the are doing something wrong and elegale. And are hurting the team fans and leauge. Not because of the money. Its not about the money. Its about what they are doing. If they could do the same thing without even gambling or betting against themselves. THere are other reasons beside money that they could be doing this. But every body focuses on the mone. And anybody with a half a brain could do this without getting dirty. Pet Rose got a life sentence for murder. Any person that has any comon sense would think. How do we give a life setence for a baseball player betting on himself. That has done anything that is elegale or hurts the game or the integraty of they game. Betting on youself wheather pro or minor. Is like taking candy from a baby. The presiden the mayor the govoners the senators the police men fireman judges they have a higher position and a higher honor and integraty to hold. And they gamble. So what if the whole world can bet on the same games Pet Rose bet on . Why cant Pet rose bet on them. Because he is a pro or a coach. Why because you are insinuating that he would do something dishonest. Like the white Sox Scandel. Wher they tried to cheat fix and through a game. And that is why the rule was made. Thats fine if they lied cheated and let there team and fans down. They broke a law. They are guilty they commited a crime. They did a lot more than vilolate a rule. Dont but the same judgment on a person who is not guilty of bracking and violating the law. And comite a crime. You cannot ngive a person the electrick chair for stealing a peace of chees in the super market. Than A man that killed four people who got the electick chair. A rule being broken. That was made because of fixing cheating and throwing a game. And commiting a ilegele act. You cannot use the same rule on a man that did not throw or fix or brake a law. To use the same rule on a innocent man because he bet on himself. Is completly unexceptable. And should not be used on a innocent man. IF bhe is guilty of throwing or fixing the game. Than you need to realy look and see if he broke any law. If he did not brake any law. Then he is inocennt. And you need to put him in the hall of fame as soon as possiable. THat rule was made for throughing the game and betting on there team to loose. Pet Rose bet on his team to win. I will give one quick example. When people bet they are bettors. When people take bets they are booking. Betting is not a crime booking bets is a crime. So you see its not about just gambling because both sides are gambling. One side is gambling without commiting a crime. And the other side is gambling braking the law. Unless he has a bookmakers lisence. Even then its qouistionable. You need to set Pet rose free from his life sentence. That should have never happened. And he does not ndeservr that. Pet rose slide into first base second base home plate he gambled his life body and carer on his slide. He gambled what does he get for that. And the bigest gamble we have is our life. So dont rate money as a bigger gamble than our life. It takes a bigger man to admite a mistake. And then change the mistake and make it wright. Put pet rose where he belongs with his team mates and the other great players. And you will be remembered as a real human being. All I can tell you is this because you are the one who will make the decision. You will feel like you did the greatest thing in your life. You gave a professional ball player what he desirves. And you can be proud of yoursef and your decision. I am nutral. Why because I cannot make the decision. I can tell you I would commend you for making the correct decision. But only you can see and make that decision. And I would not want to live my whole life knowing I destroid a great baseball players carier and fame. By keeping him out of the hall of fame. Pet rose desirves to be in the hall of fame more than we desirve our job. Nothing personal. Only good common sense. I hope for the game of baseball and the fans. That the courage and strength is used to make the correct decission. Give Pet rose the chance he deserves. Pet rose is not a bad guy. He is a good guy. I hope the walls come down and the light shines on Pet Rose.
