SPOILER ALERT: If you plan on reading Carl Sagan's book "Contact" and don't want the ending spoiled, don't read this.

OK so I quoted Carl Sagan on the other thread which gave me a crazy nerdy idea. Everyone remembers Judy Foster as dr. Ellie on the 97 blockbuster Contact. The movie was based on a novel by Carl Sagan. The book's ending is a bit different though. After failing to convince the world that she contacted aliens, Ellie joins a secret SETI program to find messages from the Creator of the Universe. They use supercomputers to calculate as many digits of pi as possible. Eventually they run into a sequence of 0's and 1's, which they assume is a message from the Creator they are trying to decode.

    Anyway.

So I though: "hey. Let's apply Reading Randomness to pi digits and see how it goes".

Pi digits. Irrational. Perhaps one of the most random things known to men? Completely abstract. Pure randomness.

So here is what I did. 2 groups: odds/evens and highs/lows.

    Odds/evens - self-explanatory: (1,3,5,7,9)/(0,2,4,6,8)
    High/low - ditto: (5,6,7,8,9)/(0,1,2,3,4)

First 120 digits, including the integer 3.

Simple strategy: if any result repeats once it appears, and this happens at least twice, we try to catch it from the third on. Normal strategy I use very often.
    So if it goes:

    Code:
    x
    x
        x
    x
    x
        x
    x
    <<we try to enter here
    Evens/Odds:

Ok so pi roulette just gave us 11 wins and 2 losses with the most simple strategy on the first 120 spins. 9 net wins. Not bad. Lots of other strategies could be applied there.

    Highs lows, same strategy:

    Code:
    X

9 wins and 5 losses. 4 net wins. It was up 8 at one point. You can quit before that.

Lots of other patterns going on here again.
