    Male, 42yrs old.

My first time in a casino was last year. I put $500 down on black. At the time, my hands were shaking and my heart was racing. Black hit! Man, on the drive home, I was on top of the world. It's funny now when I think about how I felt on the first spin and win.

A month later, I decided to hit the casino again for my birthday. I started drinking a few beers and caught a buzz. That's when I decided to play some roulette. I don't remember the exact details but I only played red/black. Within 1 hour I won $12,000 with a buy-in of $1,000. The next 3 months, I was going back on a regular basis to play even bets. I had lost half my winnings so I stopped for a while. I used the rest of my winnings to pay off all my credit card bills and a few payments on my car.

Over the course of the year, I would go to the casino. Maybe once a month, sometimes two or three times. I didn't keep track of my money or wins/loss.

More importantly, I learned about money management, discipline, gamblers fallacy, and roulette theory's.

So, this year I started up again. A few weeks ago, I went to the casino with $200. After 4 hrs, I went home with $5,000. I started with red/black with $25 chips and built it up to $800. I changed in $100 for nickels and played the inside. I won about $1800 with inside bets and nickels. Lastly, I moved on to $25 chips on the inside for more winnings.

Since that time, I've won an additional $900 with three other visits.

For me, I vary my bets. I don't play every single spin. I like walking away and coming back.
I like betting against streaks after the 4th hit. Example, 4 blacks, I'll start betting on red or it can be 4 evens and I'll bet on odds.

So, that's my story as of today. I hope to continue winning the rest of the year.

In other words you have been lucky, which will change and you will lose everything if you keep playing. Roulette cannot be beat, but if you have the money to lose and are enjoy it, carry on.

Just don't let one of the scam sellers on here tell you otherwise. But I assume you already understand basic math and that previous spins mean nothing in regards to the next spin.

    Dear Boz:

That is simply not true. Probabilities can be additive. Let's say you flip a coin. Your odds of getting heads is 0.5 or 2 to 1 odds. If you flip again, your odds of getting 2 heads in a row is (2 x 2) to 1 or 4 to 1. And so on.

Wrong, but if you believe that, I won't change your mind. Best of luck.

So the coin knows what happened on the last flip? You are the reason suckers get screwed by scammers everyday, and deserve it.

Congrats on the wins my friend and long may they continue. It was a smart idea to spend some of your winnings on bills and stuff. Keep it real and always remember lady luck and in particular roulette can be a very fickle beast.

    Dear Boz:

It has nothing to do with the coin "knowing" anything. Let's take the example farther out. What is the probability of flipping a coin and getting heads 20 times in a row? Off-the-cuff, it is .5 (or two to one, the probability of getting heads on any given flip) to the 10th power. That is why the probabilities are "additive". So, 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 ... (N number of .0.5's) ... x 0.5 = the probability that you will get the same result N number of times.

    Does that make more sense?

On the roulette wheel, the probability of getting, say, red, is 0.526 (rather than 0.5 if there were no greens; that is where the house edge is; the green are what makes it such that the house will have an edge). So, the probability of NOT getting the color that you bet on twice in a row is 0.526 x 0.526 or 0.276. So, if you watch the wheel before you bet, it lands on red, then you want to start out your bet on black. Since the wheel just hit red, then the probability that the next color will be red is now 0.276 or just over 4 to 1. That way, you start out with an edge. If that next, the third, hit is red, then betting on black now is 0.526 x 0.526 x 0.526 = 0.145 or slightly over 7 to 1.
