Poker Help me with this one please AA-KK issue

Hi there,

The situation is as follows:

Starting stack: 3000
Me & Villain got lucky early on and gained a big-stack,
Hero:10000, Villain: 8000 (estimates)

Villain raises pre-flop, I re-raise all-in, villain goes all-in

Villain shows AA, I loose with KK

Should I have played differently? Should I not have gone all-in and battled it out after the flop (and maybe lost less)?

After this I got short-stacked and didn't manage to recover.

I am still new to this forum and to poker, so could use your help.
