Horse Racing HORSE ABUSE

    I was just reading an article on Yahoo about how race horses are abused and then sold for slaughter for meat value all for our entertainment. I started to feel bad but then I thought about it.
    Most athletes abuse their bodies for our entertainment.
    There was a SF niner game televised a couple years ago, where an opposing player was injured, layed out motionless on the field,,,,game is stopped, and the crowd is doing the friggin wave,

    We dont care when boxers get punched in the head and get knocked down. We urge them to get back up and fight. We dont scream for a neurologist to examine him immediately.

    No one cares what goes on with football players off the field as far as their health , as far as possible brain damage. Long term effects on joints.

    Even for our entertainment, ballerinas go through physical pain getting their feet to conform to standards so they can perform for us.

    These are human beings that perform for our entertainment. And we push pain and physical repercussions to the back of our minds as we enjoy the performances.

    So can I be a hypocrite and give more empathy to a horse or a dog?

    yes humans have a choice in the matter while animals do not. However in the grand scheme of things the brutality to humans that we enjoy for our entertainment purposes is hard to ignore when at the same time complaining about horses.

    Over a lifetime I enjoyed horse racing and football. And that isnt changing, Even with the info we all know now about injury to the brain....the NFL is setting records for revenue. Generally people dont care when it comes to entertainment,

    Heck 10 million people bought the mayweather fight and made the following announcement "Hey all you women that hook up with rich entertainers.....its ok with us if you are his punching bag, and its also ok if you are a punching bag in front of your child......we will financially support your man because he entertains us"

    Athletes can beat women, physically and mentally harm children and we shower them with our attention and cash.

    It seems horses are the least of our worries.
