How does one settle on a daily goal. Sometimes I want $500, $600, $750, $1000, $1500. My goal at first was to make $100 in a session. For example a session could be 8am - 9am. Whether the goal is hit in 1 bet or 10 bets, once that goal is hit, you wait for the next sessions or hour (9am - 10am). I noticed as my day went on, I would make more then $100 in the session. I would do 8-15 sessions a day.

Now the problem! When the bank roll would get higher, the focus would not be as tight and if a few loses hit in a row, the big bets come out. This is where the lack of discipline comes in and crushes me.

I have found it incredibly easy to hit for $500 - $1000/day but not settling on a goal and keeping to it is crushing me as the bankroll gets higher.

This was the first day I did it and actually kept track

    6am - 7am $123
    7am - 8am $129
    8am - 9am $176
    9am - 10am $127

    6pm - 7pm $400
    7pm - 8pm $3,100
    8pm - 9pm $180
    9pm - 10pm $230

*The $3100 was hitting a 30-1 dragon which I do also play.

    Day 2

    9am - 10am $163
    10am - 11am $250

    9pm - 10pm -$2,200
    10pm - 11pm $966
    11pm - 12pm $550

As you can see as the week goes on, the wins get greater and the losses start to happen. When the loses happen they are big.

How does one stay focused and disciplined to make $100+/hour (session) and stop when hitting a goal?

If a cat got a true wining style then it don't make no sense to have stop win/loss point. If you got a wining style then just grind out shoe and set a limit as far as how many day per week and how many shoe per day yer gonna grind. It ain't rocket science baby, hey hey.

Managing your time and money in the game is key.

I'm a conservative player (I was a CPA in a past life and accountants like to minimise financial risk, generally speaking). I set myself a minimum goal of 20% on bankroll.

Bankroll is the amount I plan and expect, but hope not, to lose in one session (some would call this pessimistic, but I disagree, it saves disappointment during those inevitable losing sessions).

I play chips 1/20 of my bankroll, so for example, if I want to play $5 chips I turn up with $100, $100 and I turn up with $2000, and so on. Because my stop-win is 20% of bankroll, if I play $100 chips I expect to leave at $400 profit.

This does not mean I don't stay for two or three sessions of 20% each in one day, this is just the way I set parameters in my mind to stop 'having fun' or getting exited with winning cash, a sure fire way of losing concentration and hitting losses.

I regard gambling as 'a process', not a game of skill or luck.

My average winning days is 91.8% in 2019, so I must be doing something right - and never attract attention to oneself by using your player card at the table - I earn status points only by buying drinks and food AFTER play. I like to gamble alone and away from noisy punters having a night 'on the town' - good luck to those people, they are the people the casino loves to host.

I like it. May try that 20% of bank roll parameter. So basically you are looking to make 4 units per shoe. For instance tomorrow I am starting with 800 so 1/20 would be $40 units, so hit 160 in the shoe and stop? If you hit that and start a new shoe do you adjust your bank roll or do you keep the bank roll the same for the day and adjust the next day?

I need to train my mind to stop at a certain point. For instance today I wanted to make $1000. I surpassed it because of a nice 30-1 hit. Kept going and got another 30-1 same shoe. Was up $4000 for the day. Great day and that is 4 days worth of goal. But did I stop, of course not and gave it all back because of 1 bad shoe. So I constantly grind out wins, hit goals, but don't stop when goals are hit. I guess that's the degenerate in me and not the "pro" who has discipline.

    Thanks again for your insight.

Going to try this and see if I can stick to it. Starting bank roll 800

    Day 1 Bankroll 800 profit 400 50%
    Day 2 Bankroll 1200 profit 600 50%
    Day 3 Bank roll 1800 profit 720 40%
    Day 4 Bankroll 2520 profit 756 30%
    Day 5 Bankroll 3276 profit 819 25%

    2 days off to refocus

    Repeat

No worries - I should say that if I win quickly I might take my session win to 6 units (I usually start my progression at 2 units for odd historical reasons, so three wins and I’m up 6 units). My average daily return, taking into account loss days, is 21.1% this year, so I fool around a bit with my stop-win depending on how easy it is, it I never go above my stop loss for the day. My lowest win has been 1 unit for the day when I’ve decided to leave before all hell breaks loose, and on my best days I’ve stayed 2-3 sessions to take 12 units - variety, after all, is the spice of life... pity my wife disagrees.

This is my opinion - when you reach half of what you risk - no matter flat betting or progression - you regress and play the half unit size and operate with the casino's money without risking your own - my personal view and opinion is that you have three things going for you with that approach.

The first one is that you can use Regression Up & Pull - no matter if your staking is flat betting or progression - the other benefit is that when you bust you probably in most cases do so without risking your own money or your bankroll - and the last one is that you have to bust twice in a row to actually make a loss.

This way there is no limit for how much you can win and that without risking your own money.
Think about it as an investor - would you prefer using the stock markets' own money to make you more money or letting winning generate more winnings or risk your own money each and every session to win money.

The first one who introduce me to Regression Up & Pull was ND then I buy John Patrick's books.

    Cheers

    Patrik,

Without giving more details here I would suggest reading JP chapter on Win goal.

In essence bring the proper bankroll required for 1 session times 3 for 3 sessions to win 2 out of 3 sessions .

Never , ever replay any net winnings . You have enough capital of your own not to sink as low as those Slot machine players who constantly need to replay money .

You usually need only about 11 spins per session .

Your strength lies with the bankroll you have brought along .

We do, do we? Pray tell, who is "we."

Sticking to it requires practice. Once you settle on parameters make sure they're well defined then practice to reinforce good behavior. This will enhance and increase discipline. If you practice enough you'll find out if you are playing a winning game or not. If not, then it really doesn't matter whether you stick to it or not, does it?
