How well did you know Dan Paymar?
Sorry Frank, I never heard of him. Should I?
He was a founder of this site and the one that talked me into joining. Assuming my memory is accurate. That is not a given.
He has passed away and his son needs some help. I was hoping there were some people on this site that knew him personally.
He was the editor of my book and author of Optimum Video Poker and the software OpVP, which I contributed to the strategy generation features.
My wife loves video poker and I play the basic strategy. Would love to learn more. I tend to get more casino points for playing it.
One of the best books out there is Dan's. He is no longer alive and I have no idea if the book is even available anymore. Obviously, I have nothing to do with it.
What prompted me to seek him out to help with my own book is the shear quality of his work.
I really miss the old codger. Even our disagreements were fun!
Ha. Well I will look for it. I’m always interested in learning.
Optimal Video Poker...was the name. It's rule, rather than strategy based. So instead of a strategy card with 28 elements, you might have 8 rules which rendered 99.99% of the same return. Dan's argument was that the .01% extra was not worth the 10x effort.
BTW: I hated that modality, but I cannot argue with the fact that many preferred it to my longer and more verbose system.
Maybe the Frank Kneeland can tell the tale of the good old day when cats could capture 80-100K per annum buckin up against the videos poker, hey hey.
At Amazon you can buy Paymar's Video Poker Optimum Play on kindle and there are 14 paperbacks still available.
