    Is it ever a good idea to take insurance when the dealer shows an Ace?

    Apparently, there are situations when taking insurance can be an advantage for the player. Links are not allowed here, I understand. I played recently with AI with a question like this one:

    can blackjack insurance be favorable to players?

    I googled also and I found a resource at least.

    You gotta be patient thou. insurance situations in bj are rare. overall the house holds an 8% advantage on average. Watch out when you win! The guys freak out suspecting you of hole carding!!!
