    Hello

There are two schools of thought as I understand them. One is that if you play ten spins a day for a thousand days, your ten thousand spins will show the exact--or nearly--amount of zeros as if you had played a single session of a thousand spins.

The second school of thought is that you are "dodging" the zero since you are only there for ten measly spins. You are playing "Hit and Run", as they call it.

So here's the thought behind the questions: Is there any value to placing a hedge bet on the zero? People say they only bet once in fifty to 100 spins, so it makes sense to cover the zero. (If they are betting a dozen, how do they "cover" the other twenty-four numbers??)

I have never believed in hedge bets. If they worked, why not just bet the zero every hundred spins or so and pretend you had another bet down? According to this logic, you would always win.

    Inquiring minds want to know........

    Hi Sam . . .

Yes, I think there is value in hedging bets by betting on Zero.

Keep in mind, that the systems I design and code are for "bots", and as such, betting on zero can be extremely helpful.

In testing a system for the bot, my first priority is to get into profit as soon as possible. The theory being that once in profit, the bot won't allow you to lose all of it.

Therefore, I analyze all the losing sessions, ie, the ones with the RFH (Run From Hell) aka extreme variance, and determine why the session loss. If I can reduce the number of loss session I will be in profit sooner.

To give you an example, I was recently testing a Streets system (that did not bet on Zero) and the bot loss 3 sessions. I checked the numbers that gave the loss and saw that 2 out of the 3 sessions had multiple Zero's spun. So I changed the system to include betting on Zero thus I eliminated future losing session which by definition increased my getting into profit sooner.

So betting on Zero is important for "bots." Now, mind you I don't always bet Zero with every bet, I may bet on the Zero only when the losses exceed 35 units or some other benchmark.

    Cheers
    Nick

Zero has nothing different from any other number of the wheel except the green paint. What you want to do with zero could be done with any number, for that matter. Results will be pretty similar.

I am of the same opinion as Albalaha. It's just another number. You may as well bet any number as cover, they all have the same chance to hit.

I play the 0/00 split or play them individually if I need to make the table minimum bet and the method I'm using doesn't require enough bets to make it. Sometimes it "helps" ie. the 0 or 00 shows up and sometimes they don't. Like said above, there's nothing special about them - they appear or don't at the same rate as any other number on the table.
At least in AC you only lose 1/2 of your bet on any even money location when they show up - and in some places the bet stays until the next spin, etc. The worst way to play them is the 0,00,1,2,3 "sucker" bet, but I'm sure most people know this already.
Other than that - I don't put any value on them greater than any other number.
(I don't think that answers your questions though) - Other than trying to "avoid" them by playing short sessions or trying to use them long term thinking they will show any different than every other number doesn't make sense to me.

    Thanks for that, Turbo.

I've always felt there are "your" numbers and all the numbers. In time, your numbers will exhibit the exact same percentage of zero and every other number as the entire trot. Otherwise, you could have 100,000 spins and no zero. Or no 15 for that matter.

If it is true it is of use to hegde zero, should mean zero are more frequent, and why hegde it then. We should play zero only. Every time we lose an EC except zero we lose more, every time we win except zero we will win less. Only good if zero hits it is better, but if we think zero has a better hitrate, play then ONLY zero. Betting zero only may be better if you want to win more than ten without hefty progressions. One hit may do on a straight up, be ten up. On an EC expose the HE more, and it may be that make people think they have better hegde it, but it woun't help "in the long run". If you put ten chips flatbett on red or one on zero for 25 spins in a sim 100 times, you will probably be better on one straight up.
If you do it 10 on red and one of zero, the same test, it will probably be the worse than both first test. More chips in play the house take a fraktion of more chips. Small turnover longer shots are better most of the time. It is not true we win total more because we win more spins.
The reason some casinos has lower egde on EC, is the fact the expose to the egde are far more, due to turnover the bankroll many more times.

For an EC player No zero Wheel is very much better dispite the tax on winnings.
