    Hi Folks,

    We've added a new rule:

    No Disruptive Behavior
    • Do not flood the forums with posts, do not bump your own threads, do not troll other members, and do not behave in a disruptive manner.

This is one of those rules that go without saying and that should have been added at the beginning as it is basic to any healthy forum community, but the need to spell it out here has only arisen recently. Every forum community eventually gets members that want to disrupt the community. Whether it's flooding the forums with multiple posts or threads, or bumping their own threads, or trolling other members to provoke reactions, or behaving in an otherwise disruptive manner to negatively impact the community.

As we've been running forum communities for over a decade, we have a very good read on when members are being disruptive, so we'll be using our judgment calls to minimize the impact of disruptive members on our site.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this new rule, please reply to this thread.

    I have a question.

How does a board which claims to be "uncensored" justify adopting such rules?

"Uncensored" has been defined as "not having been banned or edited."

This board is now by definition "censored."

FWIW, I understand why you'd adopt the rule, I'm merely pointing out it is in fact a form of censorship.

We have had forms of censorship since Day 1 as we've had rules here from the very beginning, so that is nothing new. Every time we automatically ban a spammer or manually ban a member caught with multiple accounts or edit out personally identifiable information in a post (doxxing), we are technically censoring. But remember "uncensored" in our slogan refers to being able to discuss any gambling topic here without any censorship or fear of reprisal. That word in our slogan is intimately tied to the word next to it in our slogan, so the fact that we are "independent" and are outsiders to the gambling industry and therefore have no skin in the game means we have no reason or external pressure to censor gambling topics. That is as true today as it was when we launched. If we were truly 100% uncensored in all respects, then we would have no need to moderate this site at all or have any rules, and our site would become filled with spam in a day. So we continue to be completely uncensored with respect to gambling, but we do have a basic set of rules to ensure and maintain order and this is just one more of those rules that really goes without saying. To be clear, we don't actually edit a members' words even if they are being disruptive, but we may merge bumped posts so that 2 posts become 1, and we leave a public record of those "edits" with a timestamp in the relevant posts. As for why this rule is needed, imagine if we did not have this rule, and a member was intent on disrupting our community, then they could simply start a new thread every minute, bump every one of their threads every minute, and disrupt the entire site under the guise of "uncensored" which they would use as an excuse to mean carte blanche to do whatever they wanted as if they owned the place. This rule gives us the ability to nip such disruptions in the bud very quickly.

Furthermore, don't forget that we don't ban (not even temporarily) for rule violations (except egregious ones), so even a member who is punished for rule violations (such as for being disruptive) and has had their access slowed down can still express themselves freely here.

So, can you discuss any gambling topic in the world here without fear of reprisal or censorship? Yes. Can you use our uncensored nature to do whatever you want and disrupt our site? No. That's the crux of it.

We aren't sure what that means, but we can count on one hand the number of members who have been "disruptive" here since we launched, so this isn't some new rule to start cracking down on all our members. It was born out of necessity because we currently have one member being disruptive and based on their history here, we knew they weren't going to let up. So we needed to spell out this rule, and now that we have, all is well.

So nothing has changed fundamentally and everyone else can carry on as always. The disruptive member knows who he is, has already been punished under our new rules (no temp ban, just a temporary slowing down of service), has a new thread where they can vent about it freely, and order has been restored.

There is not a single gambling topic that will ever be censored here.
