I'll post my results here every month.

    1) Northbet: Tied for 11th out of 500-600 after five weeks. Select all NFL games outright.

    2) Heritage: Tied for 50th out of a couple thousand. Select all NFL games outright plus all prime time totals.

    3) Topbet: Tied for first out of roughly 1300. Select all NFL games outright.

So I'm tied for first at TopBet and staying in first requires me to select a winner of Washington versus Chicago. How'd you like first place riding on that classic? If you lose with either team, you feel like a moron. A moron who just suffered a very expensive loss.

    After six NFL weeks:

    1) Tied for 61st out of a couple thousand in Heritage Race to the Super Bowl. Have not done well with totals.

    2) Tied for 11th out of 500+ in Northbet's Pick the Pros.

    3) Tied for first in TopBet's NFL Picks contest out of 1300+.

Odds are way against winning TopBet as 20 entrants are within two games of the lead. But it will be both entertaining and a test of skill to try to win. Every week has its own pitfalls and problems.

Similar to last week, this week features being tied for first with a brutal toss-up game on Thursday that will determine who stays in first. Arizona is -1 1/2 at home versus the Saints.

I will check in and post results every other week, good or bad.

Week Eight looks absolutely brutal, so I'll report these results after Week Seven and assume it'll be my high-water mark.

    1) Dropped to 72nd out of a couple thousand in Heritage's Race to the Super Bowl. I have absolutely gotten murdered in primetime totals.
    2) Moved into a tie for ninth in NorthBet out of 500+.
    3) Tied for first in TopBet out of 1300+.

Week Eight is literally impossible. The down side to being tied for first is you have an army of people just behind you and you know if you slip a week, you can get buried pretty severely. Week Eight looks like that kind of week. There are five games where I have no opinion whatsoever and no amount of squinting is going to provide answers.

I'm updating this just for Blackhole. I'm sure he could do better, but he rations his wisdom.

    Not much movement.

    1) Tied for 92nd (out of a couple thousand) in Heritage.
    2) Moved into a tie for fifth in Northbet (out of 500+).
    3) Dropped into a tie for second in TopBet (out of 1300+).

It is a long and winding road to win one of these. Very difficult. But usually, as I said early on, if I get into contention early, I tend to stay in contention.

    Hey Red,

All these fantastic past pick outcomes means nothing to us today. This song comes to mind whenever I read about your past success.

Heading into the MNF game, I'm in first place alone in the weekly component of the NorthBet no-spread NFL handicapping contest (out of 500+ entrants). I went 14-1, losing the Eagles game.

If I win tonight's game, I finish first in the weekly by myself. If I don't, about 10 people are one game behind me, half of whom would likely tie me.

You can change your pick until near game time, so I do not know who I will take tonight. Originally I chose the Bengals, but I'm 50/50 to change that.

Because the Bills/Bengals was ruled no-contest, I won the weekly Northbet contest with a 14-1 record. I moved into sixth place overall in the season-long Northbet (500+ entrants).

I had originally gone with the Bengals. About two hours before the game, I switched to Buffalo, then an hour before the game, I switched back to the Bengals.

    Bump'

C'mon Comrade Dietz. You poker your nose into my Social Security situation. It's only fair that you answer some questions about yourself.

Do you really consider SS to be a government handout?
Have you ever paid into SS?
Do you plan to file for SS?
    If so at what age?

In your blog you've pontificated about everything else. How about a blog on your SS situation and if you are collecting or planning on collecting.
