If you are truly a hardcore fan and player of Texas Holdem Poker, it is normal for you to feel weird about having to play Omaha Poker the way it should be played. Because you probably know by now the fact that Omaha Poker rules are definitely different from Texas Holdem rules, this article will give you some ideas about the rules you need to remember the most especially if you are just a beginner.

Being a beginner isn’t a fun role to play, but it’s also not that bad especially if you take the time to learn the basic information you need to learn first. First of all, you should be aware of the different betting rates involved with this game - 2/4, 5/10 and even 10/20; if you accidentally find yourself in a room where the stakes are higher, you may want to consider this an unfortunate event. And since all casinos in America have a dealer who takes care of the game, it’s not a surprising rule for players to be assigned as a ‘dealer’ for a particular round of play; moreover, the dealer is also the last person to act during all betting rounds. Buttons will also be sent around the table so other players will know who the dealer is on a particular game; the button will be given to the dealer and it is handed to the next person on the left. This means that it is included in the Omaha Poker rules that each player in the table will get their turn to become a particular game dealer.

It is also part of the rule that each player will be given four pocket cards initially and they are required to use exactly two of these cards to form the best hand they can find. This means the hand must be formed using two pocket cards along with three other community cards placed in the center of the poker table. Another part of the rules of this type of poker is that when more than one player wins a particular round, they must be diligent enough to divide the number of pots among themselves.

Since the rules of Omaha Poker differ slightly from the more popular type of poker which is Texas Holdem, each player is always required to practice and find a way how they will be able to gain more advantage over their other opponents. However, these rules also should not prevent players from devising strategies they can use to be able to find the best hand they should play. Learning how to determine the best hand during different situations and circumstances is not a very easy thing to do; because of this, you can always train yourself to become more familiar with the mechanics and nature of this Omaha Poker. Training should not be taken lightly if you really want to start winning big games playing Omaha and you need to find an effective strategy.

Hopefully the above tips can help you a little in improving your Poker skills.

Fun fact: While in texas holdem there are 1,326 possible starting hand combinations in 4-card Pot Limit Omaha there are 16,432 possible starting hands, in 5-card Omaha this number increases to 134,459. There you can get an idea of how the probabilities and consequently the strategies change.
