    I like Organic Roulette Machines.

Please speak up if you see them in your local casinos.

    Thanks!

Not true -- Organic roulette machines do have an algorithm that is not a random number generator .... for reference see the Florida State Gaming Commission testimony

Basically, the InterBlock Organic roulette machine is a machine that has a ball spinning around either slowing down or speeding up to get the desired computerized generated numbers based upon players bets and desired Casino hold ... The result is rarely random

    1. The machine uses an rng to determine how hard the ball will be spun.
    2. The machine uses an rng to determine how fast the servo motor will spin the wheel.
    3. The machine uses an rng to determine when to release the ball.

In all, there are three rngs running the machine. Where the ball actually lands is NOT predetermined, contrary to popular belief. The function of the rngs is to help randomize the outcome.

What players generally do NOT like is the fact that the wheel changes speeds, during the spin, creating the illusion that they are being cheated. I too, do consider this to be a bit shifty.

"a ball spinning around either slowing down or speeding up to get the desired computerized generated numbers based upon players bets and desired Casino hold ... The result is rarely random"
As Dr. Sir AA said, only speed of wheel, ball and time of release of ball are randomised by the RNG of these machines to get a real random and unpredictable outcome. So, it is perfectly random and not rarely random.

Dr. Sir Anyone Anyone, as I mentioned above -- you are incorrect .... I walked into a Vegas casino this week with another member of this board and told him exactly which numbers the Interblock Organic roulette machine would be targeting on the next 3 rolls before the rolls even occurred ... he witnessed exactly what I was saying that the Interblock Organic roulette is anything but random

.... anyone that believes they are not playing a sophisticated computerized machine run by an algorithm to guarantee a certain casino profit margin is only fooling themselves

Dr. Sir Anyone Anyone - if you are not incorrect, I would be able to randomly predict the exact patterns of the machined spinning ball and I would be Nostradamus reincarnated ...... Nostradamus I am not

.... before anyone says I should be able to become a millionaire on this machine by knowing the basics of the computerized formula also does not understand that the computerized Organic roulette has a built-in fail safe protection in the algorithm to prevent such pilfering

Wow, three spins! With such skills, why didn't you continue playing?

How do you figure? What do you mean by "randomly predict"?
And to what "built-in fail safe protection in the algorithm" are you referring?

I have been going to the casino lately and have been playing what they call rapid roulette available at
    Caesars Windsor
    Harrah's New Orleans
    Harveys Lake Tahoe
    Horseshoe Hammond
    Paris Las Vegas
the wheel seems standard and the ball is rolled by a "dealer" (casino employee) each person sits at their own chair in a semi circle around the wheel, at each station is a video screen. WHile I have won and doubled my money in my last 2 sessions, I have played enough hours to already tell that the spins are anything but random.

I saw a 2 spun, then another number came up, then the 2 was spun 3 more times in a row by the same dealer, so that is 4 out of 5 2's spun, which has to be nearly impossible on anything that is truly random.

Anyone have some insight into this rapid roulette and how they are cheating? I also prefer to play when the seats are mostly filled, as this way it is hard to cheat evertyone. I have of course stayed away from the craps table :)

InterBlock Organic roulette press release is here from 4/13/11 perhaps you could contact their marketing manager (contact info in the post on yahoo) and find out where the machines are in operation. Anything that is fully automated like a slot machine is I doubt going to be completely random.

Elijah Marks - I totally concur with what you're saying about the rapid roulette -- Vegas used to have the Rapid Roulette in all the Caesars/Harrah's properties and MGM but it has been replaced mostly by the stronger computerized Organic roulette that gives the House a better advantage without the dealer costs and takes up less square footage.

I would chart the Rapid Roulette at the Caesars property then go to MGM and chart .... There were very consistent patterns that would mirror each other and change every 12 to 15 rolls no matter the property or dealer

What also was surprising is the stats they give you on several video screeens in each corner, that shows the hot numbers, and cool numbers, I am shocked at the number of times the 0 and 00 come up, on the hot numbers they show you how many times trhat hot number has come up and on the cool numbers they also show you how many spins its been since that number has come up, I am also shocked by how many times some of the numbers come up twice in a row. I doubt that any spinner has spun so many times that he can target certain numbers, but it also appears that the spinner is not that aware of what everyone is betting on their video screens so targetting certain numbers to take everyones money seems hard, if at all even possible. The odds on spinning a 2 - 4 ouit of 5 times has to be like 56 million to 1 or something.

That's the problem with "random", it is entirely possible to see that happen.
The odds of 3 in a row of the same number is only 1 in 54,872 (not a terribly rare event) and not 1 in 56,000,000.
The number coming up a 4th time on the 5th spin isn't a rare event either, it just seems like it would be.
We tend to see patterns and "obvious" things and not the truth when it comes to random.
    The odds of getting 23, 12, 00, 3, 9 for example - are the same odds as getting 23, 23, 23, 23, 23.
The problem is, with the first set you wont notice it being anything "special", while the second set seems
"amazing and impossible" which isn't true - the math says those 5 numbers in either set have the same
chance of showing up in that order.
    Sorry.

There are good videos on the basics of "Random" online - you might be shocked, anything that a mechanical device does or a person/dealer that ends in a ball landing in a pocket is not "random" although it is called "Random", it is far from.

I have never played either. All of my casino play has been a table with a live dealer. I wouldn't trust it any other way (laughs). I have seen them but have no interest in playing against a computer that can certainly affect the outcome greater than a human would.

On the "Random" topic - it's amazing how many things are called "random" when they aren't.
(But that should probably be it's own topic and thread)

I played Rapid Roulette again and this time they got me (lost 80% of all the $ I allocated for the trip...took the remaining 20% and went home). I guess theoretically you have just as much of a chance of rolling an 8 five times in a row as you do any other 5 numbers, it sure seems that the real probability of rolling an 8 5 times in a row would be nearly impossible if the spins were in fact really random. But when the ball is rolled by a human there certainly is the illusion that the results are random. and as far as organized cheating on the casinos part, it would seem that based on my observation of the dealers/spinners that they dont know what everyone is betting on, but they sure could know if they took a minute to look a little closer at their computer screens.
